We have several prospective field team members preparing for NC-8100, so today’s training focused on clue finding, SARTopo live tracking in the field, and K9 obedience. We closed the last hour with a tabletop discussion and debrief of a recent search.

Please welcome our newest Junior Searcher, Cooper!

Cooper has 121.25 documented SAR training hours in 2026 and he’s tied for 2nd in the most training hours for the year on our team (with his mother of course). He’s very likely to hold 2nd place as he is still 60+ hours ahead of the team member in 3rd place.

He will be running IC by the time he’s walking!

Thank you to our hosts today at the VA. We especially enjoyed setting up building searches (in the AC!).

One of our hiders was reported to police because a passerby thought it was strange for a grown woman to sit in the cab of a bulldozer by herself on a Sunday morning. 😂

Solid advice for those getting a puppy. Do not rely on “I’ve had dogs my whole life”. Educate yourself!

0700 start with creating maps followed by navigation courses in state park land.

Yesterday was also the 10th team training for Lilly. She has completed her requirements to be our newest Junior Searcher and earned her badge yesterday.
