*****DO NOT POST WHERE CHECKPOINTS ARE*****
This year, let's try something different. Let's not post where checkpoints are. They are there for a reason. TO SAVE LIVES. By all means, have fun and celebrate the 4th, but do it safely. Think before you drink, don't drink and drive. Plan ahead. Save your own life. The fun stops where your vehicle ends. You kill yourself or even worse, others. This world is now over for you, but for your family and friends, we have a new world. A new sad world. We have to find ways to cope with the loss of a family member or friend. The pain never ends, we just find different ways to deal with the pain. It's almost 12 years later after my brother was killed by a drunk driver. 12 years later and some days it still feels like it just happened. I can still smell the blood in the car, the alcohol, the trans fluid, the oil. I can still see my parents in the floor crying from losing a son, I can still see my brothers faces at the funeral home. I can still see my brother in a casket with blood still in his hair and ear.
It's simple, just plan ahead. Have a DD, a Uber, family or friends to call to pick your drunk ass up. This 4th of July. Do better and live to see another day. While everyone is out having a blast and celebrating, I'll be visiting the crash site and going to see my brother who's in a fu***ng box due to a drunk driver.
