Hope your 4th was a safe one! Every year we spend it at home, this year we made it a slumber party.😆 and instead of sparklers, Ben had a squeaky toy to help calm him down. 🎆🎇

He can see!! When Ben arrived at our rescue 3+ years ago, he was a blind little fluff ball that had been through a lot in his short time on this earth.

We’ve worked with him on lowering his threshold, normalizing environmental changes, and trying to get him to learn to trust people.

He would still have unexplained outbursts - and later we realized he was having seizures.

He’s been under vet care since we took him in. He’s had his bloodwork done, we’ve tried many different medications and medication combinations. When he feels medication sedating him he becomes extremely aggressive.

We took him to see a Neurologist because his episodes were getting increasingly violent and he was attacking inanimate objects and hurting himself.

We went to see a neurologist and they adjusted his medication and referred us to a VB Vet Behaviorist to potentially help with the aggressive outbursts. After our appointment where I learned a lot about seizures, I started noticing that the pre-aggressive body language could also be Ben reacting to knowing a seizure is coming.

When Ben isn’t having an episode, he’s a funny little guy that loves his Mama, getting pets, running around the yard, and having treats.

In this video he was approaching aggressively and growling - signs he’s going to have a BIG episode.

Oh and during a period of repeated neurological tremors - his eyesight came back.

From Euth listed to Brunch vibes 🥂

From BE to Brunch vibes! Johnny B Good came to us from Hesperia. Another last minute BE save. We are so thankful to the shelter staff for working with us and holding off on his…exit. He was returned 2 times with accusations of aggression towards dogs and people. You guys helped us for him a name that would change his perception. 👏🏻 Cameron was Cruz’s best friend. We are so happy to see him flourishing even after the loss.
