Your CenterPeace Inc.

Your CenterPeace Inc. At CenterPeace we believe in healthy marriages and whole families. Everyone knows someone who has been touched by divorce.

In fact every 15 minutes 25 marriages end in divorce, 70% of inmates are from homes where there was divorce and 36% of daughters from divorce will have an unwed pregnancy. In January of 2013 'Your CenterPeace' founder, Brooke, had a vision of creating a wedding venue that did more than to provide a place for a wedding, but to prepare the couple for the journey of marriage. During daily meditation

the ideas kept coming and she journaled for months before sharing the vision. Today we have three CenterPeace programs, SYMBIS facilitation, Marriage Mentoring and pre-marriage and marriage enrichment classes. The vision of CenterPeace is to create a self-sustaining marriage center, that will help strengthen families and lower the divorce rate by doing two things, help marriages start well, develop well and survive crisis and provide a beautiful wedding venue to create income for the marriage strengthening services. CenterPeace is an organization and resource that you can point your hurting friends and family to for relational encouragement.

Feeling a bit disconnected? It happens. But, just because it happens doesn't mean you shouldn't do anything about it.

The antidote to feeling disconnection in approaching your relationship with curiosity. Your partner has an entire inner world you can ask questions about!

If you're feeling disconnected, take some time this week to connect and ask these questions.

Oftentimes people can confuse setting a boundary with making demands. It's important to understand this distinction as boundaries help relationships, and demands do not.

Let's say you need more time to yourself during the weekend. You're bogged down by responsiblities and feel like you can't recharge.

A boundary sounds like...
"Babe, I can no longer manage the load of all we have to do on the weekend. Instead of doing chores at this time, I need to take an hour to myself on this day. If you are able to help out more that's great- but I have to take a break."

Whereas a demand sounds like...
"You have to start adding these chores to your schedule on the weekend. I'm not doing them anymore, it's too much."

While the concern is the same, the ex*****on is different. Boundaries are focused on what you are doing, whereas demands are focused on what the other person is doing.

If you've been making more demands lately, try and reframe them into boundaries and see the difference it makes in your relationship.

Balance in relationships isn't really about "balancing each other out."⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It's about how you spend time with one another while also spending time with yourselves. Keeping dates with your friends while also keeping your weekly date with your partner. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Without balance in relationships, we risk enmeshment and isolation with our partners.⁣⁣

How do you and your partner keep balance in your relationship or marriage?⁣⁣

Parenting is no joke. We are going to feel discouraged, hopeless, tired, and worn out at points in our parenting journey- there's no doubt about that.⁣

With that being said, our choices are what define us, and we get to choose how we want to respond as parents. We can let our emotions get the best of us and choose to yell at our kids when they make a mistake, or we can take a deep breath before responding assertively.⁣

Parenting can be challenging. Drop some love in the comments below for our fellow parents! ❤⁣

It's common to feel a sense of stagnancy in relationships. ⁣

When we notice this feeling, it can be helpful to try something new with your partner or spouse. It doesn't have to be anything super revolutionary or different- sometimes, a small change of pace to change things up can do the trick.⁣

What do you and your partner do when you notice things getting a bit stale? Let us know in the comments!⁣

Conflict resolution can be tough, especially when you're convinced you're "right" about a situation.

Even if your thoughts or ideas may make sense this time around, it doesn't benefit your relationship to be a know-it-all or "I told you so" type of person.

Next time you and your partner are engaged in conflict, make sure you employ these strategies to get to a resolution in a peaceful and thoughtful manner.

Think about it- do you tend to listen to your partner and focus on yourself and what your response will be, or do you really try to understand where they are coming from and empathize with their experience?

Truthfully, it's very challenging to immerse yourself in your partner's worldview and understand how your actions have impacted them. It takes a great deal of vulnerability and managment of guilt or shame.

Remember that the strongest relationships are not about lack of conflict, but how we manage it. Owning your part and making changes to your behavior set your relationship up for success.
