NC State University actively creates procedures, procurement and a culture where source reduction of materials is the first priority for waste reduction followed by re-use and recycling. The University views waste as a potential loss of resources that would otherwise have economic and environmental benefit

s. The University set a goal to achieve a 70% waste diversion rate as outlined in the Sustainability Strategic Plan by 2022. The University works to accomplish this through defined strategies of source reduction, programs, efficiencies and creating a culture shift towards waste consciousness.

We celebrated Green Sports Day with a post-game Sunday Sort this week! 💚🏈 Big shoutout to our incredible volunteers — the Sustainability Stewards, Epsilon Eta, and Env Fy — for all their help.

The numbers are in from Wolfpack Football Games 1 & 2… 🏈 🥁 With the help of our volunteers, student interns, and fans, we’ve diverted over 48,000 pounds of waste from the landfill so far this season 🤯 Thank you for your incredible work and getting us closer to our diversion goals ♻️💚
