Follow us be inspired, get involved, and take action to make your sustainability . NC State University actively creates procedures, procurement and a culture where source reduction of materials is the first priority for waste reduction followed by re-use and recycling. The University views waste as a potential loss of resources that would otherwise have economic and environmental benefits. The University set a goal to achieve a 70% waste diversion rate as outlined in the Sustainability Strategic Plan by 2022. The University works to accomplish this through defined strategies of source reduction, programs, efficiencies and creating a culture shift towards waste consciousness.
