From China with love. 🇨🇳

Yunnan Radio and Television followed us through the whole residency — lessons, rehearsals, the concert — and their feature is now up on our YouTube channel. Link in bio.

One of the things it captured: “Flowing Stream” (小河淌水), a Yunnan folk song, in a new arrangement with soprano Lin Lin. Learning a melody that belongs to the place you’re standing in, from the people who grew up with it, is a particular kind of privilege.

Also pictured: dinner. Every night of that trip ended around a table like this one.

Concert night in Kunming. 🎶

September 18 at Yunnan Arts University: the China–US Exchange Concert, the centrepiece of the International Music Exchange Week. Oboe, bassoon, piano — joined by the phenomenal Hanzhi Wang on accordion, and a soprano who brought the house down.

An accordion doesn't turn up in our repertoire often. It should. It can whisper under a phrase or swallow the whole room, and playing next to Hanzhi all week has changed how I think about what our trio can be.

A full hall, students in every row, phones up for the last chord. Thank you Kunming. 💐

We are so excited to head to Kunming, China to kick off our 2026-27 season, where music, teaching, and exchange will set the tone for the year ahead. We will be joining our amazing colleague, accordionist Hanzhi Wang for an activity packed residency at the beautiful Yunnan Arts University featuring masterclasses, a joint concert with faculty and students, and cultural field research across Yunnan. It is exactly how we want to open a new season — listening closely, sharing what we know, and discovering what music can say across languages. From Santiago to Seville, Baltimore to Bilbao — what a season it has been. 🌍

As we close out 2025-26, our newest single arrives: "C." from Poulenc's Deux Poèmes de Louis Aragon, FP 122, arranged for piano trio by Dietrich Zöllner. Haunting, spare, and deeply felt — it might be our favorite of the series so far.

These recordings have been our quiet companion through everything this year: a season-long project, released song by song, building toward a full album. Alongside "C.", we've recently released Métamorphoses: Paganini and Métamorphoses: C'est ainsi que tu es — all streaming now, link in bio.

Unforgettable concert at the Paul Mahder Gallery in Healdsburg last night! 🎨 incredible audience who came out in spite of the crazy rain pounding on the roof so hard it was almost like a percussion section. Nothing quite like performing chamber music while the sky absolutely loses its mind outside. 🤣 Thank you for having us!
