Hi I’m Tara.

If you’ve been here for a while, you know that I have been on a journey from elementary school teacher, to Photographer, to Coach, to community builder, to leadership empowerment, and more to come. If you didn’t know, now you know.

Along with all of those titles, there is much more depth to me.

I have also been the one who would literally give you the shirt off my back and I have many times. The one who will be there no matter what. The one who will put all others before myself.

This weekend, I realized something. Not only because it’s my birthday, but because I now know, I have a choice.

I am choosing who I trust and who I pour into. I am choosing to take care of myself and to love other others as well. I am choosing to spend time with my family and leave my phone in the other room. I am choosing to receive love while also giving it.

Thank you for being here, thank you for reading through this entire caption if you made it this far. I appreciate this life and I am grateful for the opportunity to support others and call this work.

Learning to receive is a practice that I know I will be doing for the rest of my life.

For my birthday, this was something that I learned to do, sharing my dear friend, share these words out loud to me, and then also be able to read them and look back with the greatest gift.

For you I hope…

as you continue, lifting up other women and building connections and empires, you know that you are loved and supported and worthy of all the things. That you allow others to pour into you even more than you pour into us.

You would never know this by looking at the photos and videos here but we stood outside the restaurant in a circle for what felt like forever.

My dear friends each wrote something to me and read it aloud as I stood in the center of that circle. This was more than a sweet gesture, more than the most beautiful thing ever. It was the first time I received love like that all at once.

Each of them told me something they see in me, something they’ve learned from me, something they hope for me, and something that they feel between us.

As we went around the circle, they recorded their voice, saying their thoughts out loud. I now have this voice memo that I will keep with me forever.

To be poured into in this way is not something I’m used to, I love giving and pouring into others. Practicing receiving has given me the opportunity to feel all of this so deeply today.

Are you operating as your best self right now?

I don’t mean, are you doing the best you can with what you have I am asking you if you are leaning in to the uncomfortable, learning what you don’t know, finding ways to grow… that’s what I’m talking about.

With each new version of myself that I step into I know it’s because of the proximity of the people around me the mentors I’ve invested in, and the ways that others have poured into me.
