Last year, we recognized we had a need for new raised flower beds. The existing ones had begun to rot and had been repaired many times.

That’s how we met Hunter. We contacted Patti (Committee Chair) and Kevin (Treasurer) with the Jordan Boy Scouts - Troop 332, and they knew just the guy! They introduced us to Hunter, as he was looking for an Eagle Scout project.

They came out to measure, take pictures, measure some more, and over the course of a few months, Hunter raised funds for supplies, built and delivered the new raised flower beds. To say our residents are excited is an understatement.

The flower beds are now planted and enjoyed by all.

David, a resident, is also pictured with Hunter, as he gave Hunter a little craftsman to craftsman advice on how to go about enhancing the design of the existing flower beds.

Thank you to everyone that made this project come to fruition! We are so thankful!

As they say, “many hands makes light work”. Our Landscape Volunteers were hard at work yesterday giving our fountain a new look. We are thankful for their dedication to keeping McKenna Crossing looking its best. When in full bloom, viewers will see a variety of colorful flowers! 🌹🌻🌷Let’s Grow!

Do you need a hug today?
We recently received a “Hug” by Laugh, which is a sensory product designed to bring pleasure and comfort to people. We introduced it to our residents, and each reaction was heartwarming and different.
Many started rocking and patting the hug like a child, and talked about their own children. One of our crafters was more intrigued by the way that it was sewn together. A couple were not interested at all! Even the staff were curious. Overall, it was a simple, soft object to HUG!

We loved our time spent with Gideon Comfort Dog 🐕 this week, and we’ve decided he has the best job!
This time we shared our time with the children of Shepherd's Flock Preschool and they loved 🥰 every bit of him, literally 🐾!

A day of celebration! 🎉 Tuesday marked the completion of our yearly partnership with Prior Lake High School and their MN/CAPS program. Students and residents are paired up and meet for 8 sessions, building conversation skills and relationships across generations. The students had an assignment to sum up their visits and then read their report to the group. These students wrote so beautifully that many people were moved to tears.
This year marks 10 years of McKenna Crossing being a MN CAPS partner!

We want to thank Kathy Haubrich and her volunteers for helping us to put on a combined bike riding 🚲 event with Shepherd's Flock Preschool. The children were celebrating the end of school by having a bike 🚲 day in the parking lot, so we decided to join in with the help from Kathy and her Marilyn’s TwoCan Bikes! 🚲🚲
