Congrats to a great finish for our 16U National Duals teams in Utah. MN Red finished 4th in both Freestyle and MN Blue was 3rd in the Red/Blue Color Division.

16U DUALS - MN Red takes down Iowa and will now wrestle for 3rd against California Gold. Cayden Neisen stepped up and closed the dual for Team Minnesota at 144lbs with a 10-0 tech. fall.

MN Blue was defeated by Iowa Blue and will wrestle Florida for 3rd in the Red/Blue Division.

16U DUALS - Minnesota Red defeats Illinois, next up is Iowa on Mat 3. The team had a good run from Kadin Martin, Rex Ashford, Destin Skelly, Charlie Johnson, and Duke Bartoo to win 5 in a row early in the dual and capped it off with three consecutive wins by Edstrom, Rodriques, and Neisen.

MN Blue with a great victory over Oklahoma. They won 10 of the 17 weights but competitive losses and bonus point victories was the difference where we had 6 weights where they did not earn a team point. Moving on to Iowa Blue next.

Here are some awesome shots of Nina Makem from the 2026 Pan American Championships at the La Videna Velodrom in Lima, Peru and Nina continues to show just how far this sport can take you.

She now is representing our country on the international stage and competing against some of the best wrestlers in the world.

Her journey is a powerful reminder that USA Wrestling is more than just a winter season. For those willing to chase their goals, work to become their best, and embrace the opportunities in front of them, wrestling can open doors to experiences across the country and around the world.

From local tournaments to national events and international competition, this sport and USA Wrestling truly can be a vehicle for opportunity. Congratulations, Nina, on proudly representing Minnesota and Team USA!

16U DUALS UPDATE: Day 4 means Freestyle Championship Day.

Minnesota Red advanced into the Gold/Silver last night after a 2nd place finish in Pool A. In the first round they were defeated 50-17 to Pennsylvania Blue. Today they have three matches, wrestling Illinois and Iowa Red before a final placement match.

Minnesota Blue finished 5th in Pool C by defeating Connecticut 46-30. They wrestled the first round match in their Red/Blue bracket defeating California Silver 50-25. Today they well face Oklahoma Blue, and Iowa Blue before a final placement match.
