A home pregnancy test can tell you the pregnancy hormone is present, but it can’t confirm if the pregnancy is progressing.

A test also won’t tell you how far along you are or where the pregnancy is located. Surprisingly, you can even get a positive result even though you're not pregnant with a continuing pregnancy, even if you’re noticing symptoms.
