What happens on the preserves after dark? 🌙🦋

On Wednesday night, we flipped on the blacklights and found out! During our Pollinators After Dark BioBlitz, we recorded an incredible 109 observations representing 49 different species at Weil Preserve! 🔦🌿

Some of the most documented moths of the night were the Master’s Dart, Large Lace-border Moth, Isabella Tiger Moth, and Large Yellow Underwing– just a few of the many nighttime visitors we discovered!

Thank you to everyone who came out for a night of moth-ing, and a huge thank you to Dave from Pound Ridge Land Conservancy for leading such a fun and fascinating evening! 🦋✨

As a byproduct of all the rain, our hiking trails in Ward Pound Ridge smell of… mushrooms. It’s a great time to get out there and explore, which lots to find if you look down at your feet. 🍄
