David Ross '94 will celebrate Blue Gray Day and his Hill ties this week with his daughter, Ella, a member of the Class of 2026.
"I still remember walking across the Pitch on the way to drop Ella off at preseason, and the tears just came. She looked at me and asked if I was crying, and honestly, how could I not be. Joy, excitement, pride, and a rush of my own Hill memories all hitting at once, knowing my baby girl was about to build some of the greatest friendships of her life, discover who she truly is, and grow into the remarkable woman I always believed she would become. Four years later, she embraced everything the Hill stands for, chased her dreams without hesitation, and blazed a trail as the first Hill woman in our family. Ella, watching your journey has been one of the greatest joys of my life, and this week you join a brotherhood and sisterhood of Hill alumni that will walk beside you through every twist, turn, and chapter life brings. We are so incredibly proud of you. Congratulations." -David Ross '94

Thirty-plus years after his own graduation, Sangjin Hong '92 will celebrate Blue Gray Day this week with his son, Ethan, a member of the Class of 2026.
"Hill made me a better man thirty years ago, and its influence still lives with me every day. Seeing it do the same for Ethan has been a joy. He arrived as himself and leaves stronger in character and confidence, still wonderfully himself. I know he'll feel the same about Hill in three years β€” and thirty. This school's rare magic is honoring tradition while truly respecting each individual. I couldn't be prouder." -Sangjin Hong '92

Chris Downie '87 will celebrate Blue Gray Day and four decades of Hill ties this week with his daughter, Hayden, a member of the Class of 2026.
"Hayden – You raised your hand independently to take on your journey at Hill and as you close one chapter, a new exciting one begins. Your Mom and I are very proud of your accomplishments, and it has been awesome to see you blossom into the lovely, thoughtful and confident young woman that you are today. Having shared the Hill experience some 40 years before you, your Dad can tell you firsthand that Hill will have an enduring impact on your life and will never fade. You will remember and revisit friendships for the rest of your life and we know that the kindness and generosity you have shared with all around you will be appreciated forever..... 'if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.' We love you!! – Mom and Dad (Kathleen Downie and Chris Downie '87)" -Chris Downie '87
