Two days. One overnight. Roughly 40 miles of the Schuylkill River Trail. And no worrying about how to get yourself, your bike or your luggage back to where you started.

SRT Cycle & Stay on October 3-4 turns a great bike ride into a weekend adventure, using our new SRT Ride Guides to help you find places to stop, eat, and sleep.

You’ll park in Valley Forge and then take a shuttle with your bike to Reading. Ride from Reading to Pottstown on Saturday, have dinner at one of the downtown’s restaurants, spend the night in Pottstown at the lodging of your choice, then wake up Sunday, and continue along the Schuylkill River Trail to back Valley Forge.

You choose where you stay, eat and stop along the way. Schuylkill River Greenways and Take It Outdoors take care of the transportation, luggage and bicycle support.

All for just $50 per person.

The Schuylkill River Trail is more than a path in the woods where you can get in a few miles of cardio.

It connects communities, historic sites, parks, businesses, and destinations throughout the Schuylkill River corridor.

Schuylkill River Greenways is creating a series of six pocket-sized SRT Ride Guides that, together, will cover the entire Schuylkill River Trail.

A new trail connection is taking shape in Upper Merion!

Schuylkill River Greenways was proud to join our fellow partners today at Recharge Park for the official launch of the Valley Forge Gateway Trail Partnership and the unveiling of a colorful public art campaign celebrating the trail.

SRG is one of 27 partners supporting the planned 2.8-mile Valley Forge Gateway Trail, which will connect the Schuylkill River Trail and Chester Valley Trail while creating safer connections to neighborhoods, businesses, parks and Valley Forge National Historical Park.

And those colorful bikes in our photos? They’re part of the Forging Your Path Photo Challenge! Find one of 22 bikes around Upper Merion, snap a selfie and enter for a chance to win. The more bikes you find, the more chances you have.

In this installment of Trail Notes...TALES OF REPAVING AND RESURFACING

We've all heard "it's not the destination, it's the journey." Try telling that to your handlebars after two miles of cracked asphalt.

That bone-rattling stretch means the trail is due for repaving and resurfacing, and these projects are probably even more expensive than you think.

Asphalt and trail surfaces don't last forever — sun, freeze-thaw cycles, tree roots, and a few million tires and sneakers wear them down year after year. Eventually cracks turn into potholes, potholes turn into puddles, and puddles turn into the reason your bike helmet has a dent in it.

Here's the number that stops most conversations cold: Repaving and resurfacing a single mile of trail can cost up to an estimated $1 million. That's not a typo, and it's not us being dramatic — it's asphalt, base material, drainage work, heavy equipment, and skilled labor, multiplied by 5,280 feet.

Which makes resurfacing one of the single most expensive line items the Schuylkill River Greenways Stewardship Fund covers. There's no volunteer weekend that can repave a mile on its own. This is exactly the kind of project the Stewardship Fund was built for.

This final year of the Stewardship Campaign, every dollar we raise will go toward supporting large-scale maintenance projects like these. Every mile we're able to resurface is a mile that stays smooth, safe, and rollable for the next decade of trail users.

Smooth trail isn't glamorous. It's just really, really nice to ride on. Help us keep it that way.

FREE BIKE. Seriously. Free.

Come to Riverfront Park in Pottstown, hand us your ID, sign a waiver, and we’ll hand you a bike and a helmet to borrow.

Then hit the Schuylkill River Trail, explore Pottstown, enjoy the riverfront, feel the wind in your hair, pretend you’re in the Philadelphia Classic, and, for some, pretend you have hair and there’s wind in it. Whatever.

You just have to bring the bike and helmet back. We’re generous, not that generous. 😂
