In 1934 a group of parishioners from Holy Trinity RCC, decided that they wanted a place to gather and socialize on a regular basis. So they decided that they would begin the process of forming their own social club. They petitioned the state to grant them a charter that would allow them to form”Holy Trinity Catholic Club” of Pottstown PA, a nonprofit corporation. In order to have the petition considered, they had to state their mission for the club to exist. The holy Trinity Catholic club was formed and shall continue for the purpose of promoting better fellowship among the members of the holy Trinity Parish. The charter was granted in April 1935. This allowed for them to draft their bylaws and apply for a club liquor license. The license was granted in the holy Trinity club was started.

Unfortunately, in 2004 the archdiocese of Philadelphia made the decision to close our parish . This decision affects the club‘s mission statement. At that time, the club still had a large number of “A” members. For over 20 years, we have worked to do everything we could to keep the club operating. However, the number of “A” members remaining has lowered drastically. Because the parish no longer exist, it is impossible for the number of “A” members to increase.
The PA laws make it very clear, if you can no longer fulfill your mission statement , you no longer qualify as a non profit, which makes you ineligible to renew your club liquor license.
So with Heavy Hearts the HTCC board of Governors, could find no alternative but to seek legal council and adopt a Resolution of Voluntary Dissolution of HTCC. Our current license expires on April 30, 2026 at midnight. At that time we will have to close our doors.
