November Is Almost Here. Have You Signed Up to Volunteer?

Our first Reading Enrichment Program (REP) session for the 2026-2027 school year begins November 16!
We're still inviting caring community members to join our volunteer team and help support children as they strengthen their reading skills.

None of this month's work happens without the people standing behind it. Thank you to Mercy Chefs, Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads, Portsmouth Public Schools, The Children's Museum of Virginia, and Okii Dream LLC for your partnership and support!

As we head into November, our first REP cohort of the school year kicks off across 7 Portsmouth schools. We're still recruiting reading facilitators, and we'd love for you to be one of them.

Every Strong Reader Starts Somewhere.

For some children, reading comes easily.
For others, it takes extra time, practice, patience, and encouragement.
That's why programs like ChainBreakers' Reading Enrichment Program (REP) matter.

We want children in Portsmouth to have the support they need to grow into confident readers.
And volunteers are an important part of making that happen.

Congratulations to us on such a successful A Legacy of Hope event! 💗

What an amazing and beautiful event it was! The tremendous community support, powerful and inspiring survivor testimonies, and delicious lunch made the celebration truly special.

A huge congratulations to the entire ChainBreakers team, the planning committee, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who worked tirelessly to bring this event to life.

Your dedication, hard work, and commitment to making a difference in the community truly paid off. Your dedication and commitment made Legacy of Hope a beautiful celebration of strength, hope, love, and community.

We're honored to share that ChainBreakers received the Safe Harbor Award from Children's Harbor this month, recognized alongside other organizations and trailblazers for their outstanding commitment to making a difference in the lives of children and families across Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore.

Awards like this one belong to our volunteers, our partners, and every family who trusted us with their child's reading journey. We've moved the needle in Portsmouth, but there's still work ahead. We’re thankful to Children’s Harbor for the award, and we look forward to continuing to be part of the solution in our city!

Today, ChainBreakers, Inc. proudly recognizes and appreciates Theos Chrisma Legacy Builders for their generous support of our A Legacy of Hope: Breast Health Awareness & Survivor Celebration.
