Honoring a Champion for Women, Communities, and Opportunity

Some people serve their communities for a season. Others help shape them for generations.

For more than five decades, the Honorable Martha Fuller Clark has dedicated her life to public service, historic preservation, and expanding opportunities for others throughout New Hampshire and beyond.

Martha has also been part of the RAIN story from the beginning. For 23 years, she has championed our mission and stood alongside women and girls in Niger, believing in the power of education, opportunity, and community-led change.

What makes Martha's leadership so remarkable is not only what she has accomplished but also how she has accomplished it, with compassion, humility, dignity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others thrive.

This year, we are proud to present Martha Fuller Clark with the RAIN Dance Individual Impact Award.

Please join us in Portsmouth on June 18 as we celebrate Martha's extraordinary contributions and the lasting difference she continues to make in the lives of women, girls, and communities near and far.

The Kind of Partnership That Makes Impact Possible

Behind every strong nonprofit is a network of people who quietly help make the work possible.

For more than a decade, Murphy, Powers & Wilson Certified Public Accountants, P.C., has done exactly that for RAIN. Through financial guidance, stewardship, and a deep commitment to community service, the firm has helped strengthen the foundation that enables our mission to grow and endure.

Led in part by Partner Michael Murphy, whose service to nonprofits and community organizations spans many years, the firm is a powerful example of responsible corporate citizenship. Their support has extended far beyond traditional accounting services, helping RAIN navigate complex financial and international operational realities with integrity and care.

For more than 20 years, Murphy, Powers & Wilson has built a reputation for professional excellence across the Hampton and Seacoast New Hampshire region, providing comprehensive accounting, tax, auditing, and bookkeeping services to businesses, nonprofits, and individuals alike. What stands out most is its belief that businesses also have a responsibility to invest in the well-being of their communities.

This year, RAIN is proud to present the Corporate Impact Award to Murphy, Powers & Wilson at the RAIN Dance Gala.

This recognition is part of a broader celebration of leadership and generosity. Next week, we’ll share the story of our individual honoree, a powerful example of service, generosity, and leadership in action.

Their partnership reminds us that impact is built not only on vision, but also on trusted stewardship behind the scenes.

Join us at the RAIN Dance Gala on June 18 at 3S Artspace to celebrate Murphy, Powers & Wilson Certified Public Accountants, P.C., and the corporations whose generosity continues to transform lives.

Two Mothers. One Shared Legacy of Hope.

Happy Mother’s Day!

On this Mother’s Day, we honor the women whose strength, generosity, and leadership help shape stronger futures across communities and generations.

At RAIN, women are at the heart of everything we do — as donors, partners, advocates, mothers, and changemakers.

On this day, we think of women like the Honorable Martha Fuller Clark — a devoted mother of three whose generosity and steadfast support for RAIN over nearly 25 years have helped expand opportunities for women and girls in Niger. Her commitment reflects a deep belief in dignity, education, and the power of women to shape more just and compassionate communities.

And we think of women like Algoubass in Dabaga, Niger.

Through RAIN’s livestock program and her local women’s savings and credit group, Algoubass is building a stronger future for her family. A determined mother and entrepreneur, she uses income from her livestock business to keep her two daughters in secondary school and to cover uniforms and school fees for her young son in primary school.

Though separated by continents and life experiences, women like Martha and Algoubass share something powerful: the belief that investing in children, education, and opportunity can change the future.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the women who give, lead, nurture, and persevere — without seeking praise or recognition — so others may thrive.

Join us at the RAIN Dance Gala in Portsmouth on June 18th to honor extraordinary women and community leaders whose generosity continues to transform lives.

Meet The 2026 RAIN Dance Honorees

This year, at The RAIN Dance gala on June 18th in Portsmouth, we are proud to honor two remarkable champions whose leadership and generosity exemplify the spirit of community impact.

We will celebrate the Honorable Martha Fuller Clark, a true Seacoast philanthropist whose decades of public service and unwavering support for local and global causes have strengthened countless lives. From historic preservation and women’s leadership to education and community well-being, Martha’s legacy of service continues to inspire generations.

We are also honored to recognize Murphy, Powers & Wilson Certified Public Accountants, P.C., a firm that exemplifies how business excellence and community responsibility can go hand in hand. Through years of dedicated partnership and financial stewardship, the firm has helped nonprofits, including RAIN, strengthen the systems and accountability needed to sustain meaningful impact.

Together, these honorees remind us that strong communities are built not only on generosity but also on long-term commitment, leadership, and care for others.

In the coming weeks, we’ll share more about each honoree and the extraordinary stories behind their ties to RAIN and to the communities we serve in Niger.

When people ask why Rain for the Sahel and Sahara works in Niger, I think about distance.

Distance to school.
Distance to water.
Distance to healthcare.
Distance to opportunity.

In the Agadez Region, a girl’s chance of continuing her education is not just about ability, it’s about access. Many children are out of school, and only a small fraction of girls complete secondary education—especially in remote areas.

But education is only one piece. Families face daily tradeoffs: limited income, climate shocks, and distant health services.

And yet, what stands out is resilience. Women are building livelihoods, families are prioritizing education, and communities are adapting with deep local knowledge.

RAIN invests in that resilience—through girls’ education, women’s entrepreneurship, water access, and regenerative agriculture.

Because these challenges are connected—and when addressed together, communities move from managing risk to shaping their own future.

When women lead, communities thrive. Meet Fatima. When Fatima’s husband underwent two major surgeries last year and was unable to work, she suddenly became the head of her household.

During this difficult period, it was Fatima’s garden, supported by RAIN’s sustainable agriculture and savings-and-loan programs, that sustained her family.

In the rainy season, she harvested wheat and vegetables.

This season, she is growing onions to sell at the market.

The income helps meet her family’s basic needs, including the medication her husband still requires.

Fatima’s leadership reflects a broader reality across the Sahel and Sahara.

With RAIN’s support, women are strengthening their families and communities through practical, locally driven solutions—growing food, earning income, mentoring students, and protecting access to clean water. We hope you feel moved by her story and so many others and it inspires you to support our efforts with a gift of any size.
