The New Hampshire Art Association is a non-profit art association founded in 1940, and as such is one of the oldest statewide art associations in the country. Currently there are over 250 juried members of painters, photographers,printmakers, sculptors, and other fine artists living and working primarily in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont. NHAA

Twenty-five thousand people per year engage with the NHAA Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery as well as their off-site exhibitions. Although visitors are primarily from New England, the NHAA has a significant international audience. The Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery hosts local artists shows throughout the year, opening their new shows in conjunction with the monthly Art 'Round Town gallery art walks in downtown Portsmouth. NHAA artists exhibit their work at the Prescott Park Arts Festival, Seacoast Repertory Theatre, the Smile Building in Concord, NH as well as Pop-Up Galleries around the state. Many events are linked to activities in local schools.

The call is live for our last exhibition of 2026! NHAA and League of NH Craftsmen members are encouraged to submit work for Hearth Warmers, NHAA's annual holiday exhibition at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery.

This is a perfect opportunity to exhibit giftable items, winter or holiday-themed works and holiday cards!

Submission Deadline: November 23
Exhibition on View: December 4-24
Opening Reception: December 4, 5:00-8:00 pm

Coming Soon: November Artist Curated Exhibitions

This November, we're excited to welcome three artists from our 2025 Biennial II exhibition to the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery for solo exhibitions exploring abstraction through distinct materials, processes, and perspectives. Ceramic artist Julie Peck, painter Drew DiPasquale, and multidisciplinary artist Dr. Adhi Two Owls transform observations of the natural world, everyday life, and the universe into compelling visual forms.

Join us for the opening reception on November 6 from 5-8 pm. Free and open to the public, refreshments will be served. We will also have a Meet the Artists event on November 22 from 1-3 pm where Drew, Julie and Adhi will discuss their inspiration, process, and artistic abstraction.

Coming Soon: 27th Annual Joan L. Dunfey Exhibition ✨

Sponsored by the Joan L. Dunfey Fund for the Arts through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, this highly anticipated annual event continues its legacy of celebrating the creativity, skill, and diversity of artists from across the region.

71 pieces were selected by juror Sarah Elliott, professor of drawing and painting at UNH. Works will be on display at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery November 4-29, with an opening reception on November 6th from 5-8 pm. Prizes will be awarded around 6:00pm. We hope to see you there!

Closed this weekend for exhibition changeover!

We will be closed to the public on Friday, Oct 30 through Monday, November 2. We will be back open on Tuesday, November 3 and installing the Dunfey Exhibition.

Artists, we look forward to seeing you for exhibition dropoff Sunday evening, 4-6pm and Monday 9-6pm. If you need to drop off outside of those windows, please get in touch to schedule an appointment.

Thank you to the NH Preservation Alliance Alliance for adding the Sheafe Warehouse, Shaw Warehouse and the Players Ring Theater to the Seven to Save list, geared toward preserving New Hampshire’s historic resources. Everyone is welcome to join us at NHAA on Saturday, October 24th for a chat and book signing with artist, author and Portsmouth icon Bob Thoresen.

THOR Art: A Retrospective Look, Bob's retrospective exhibition and book of the same title, explore Bob's work and influences from 1968-2026.

Drew’s exhibition, Almost Something You Know, will be on view November 4-29. A Meet the Artists event will be held on Nov 22 from 1-3pm at NHAA.
