WE WILL KICK OFF LOVE DAY THIS YEAR WITH THE FUTURE MVPs 3 ON 3 TOURNAMENT 🏀💫

This event is a project for Amber Hurley’s Branding & Marketing class with the youth at Lil Homies. The kids planned this tournament from scratch from the name, brackets, and cash prize to the flyer colorway.

All proceeds will go back to the youth involved in planning the event, rewarding them for their hard work and creativity. This is the first of many events this summer as we continue keeping the kids active, creative, and engaged in something positive!

$20 registration per player. Free hot dogs & hamburgers for the community. Vendors welcome to participate.

BIG H.O.M.I.E.S. PROGRAM UPDATE 💪🏾🧠✨
This week was about exposure, education, and elevation for middle and high school young boys.

Monday: We took the boys to Norfolk State University to experience a home basketball game, campus culture, and the energy of HBCU pride. They saw what college life feels like up close and representation matters. 💚💛

Tuesday: We completed SESSION 3: Clear Head, Clear Path — Dangers of Vapes & Drugs.
I want to highlight these young men for doing the work, having real conversations, and choosing better for themselves. They are learning to think ahead, value their lives, and lead with purpose — one decision at a time.

A huge thank you to the students from St. Paul’s Hospital RN Program who came in to teach and talk with the boys about:
• Drug & alcohol awareness
• Gambling addiction
• How to recognize pressure & make safe choices

Not only did they share knowledge, but they also fed the boys and poured into them with love. We appreciate you. ❤️

✨ Celebrating Alice, Co-Founder of Big H.O.M.I.E.S. ✨

As we look over the last five years, this journey has not been for the weak. From officially forming our nonprofit, to launching programs, opening our first recreation center, starting after-school and summer camps—Alice has been there every step of the way.

She made the bold decision to leave what was steady and known, stepping out on faith to pour 100% into this vision. Her love for the youth, her commitment to making sure our annual back-to-school drives are a success, and her tireless work behind the scenes have been the heartbeat of this organization.

Yesterday, as we welcomed youth back for the 2025 back-to-school program, hearing Alice speak life into our young kings and queens reminded us why we do this. Her dedication, strength, and leadership have shaped the foundation of where Big H.O.M.I.E.S. is today and where it’s going tomorrow.

Alice, thank you for never giving up. Thank you for always showing up. You are the Dream Division in motion—and the youth will never forget the experiences you’ve created. 💜👑

Balling On The River 2025

Big Homies ran a 5 week clean up program for the children in Portsmouth this summer.

* 71 kids total
* Majority were from Dales Home, Southside, and London Oaks
* Picked up trash in their community
* Volunteered at The Oasis
* Volunteered Buffalow Family and Friends Community Days Food Pantry
* Volunteered at The Mount Portsmouth
* Volunteered with Mercy Drops Dream Center in Dales Home
* Cleaned and cut grass at Little Homies Youth Enrichment and Recreation Center
* Speakers on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, branding, resume writing , soft job skills, interview techniques , and conflict resolution in the workplace .

Special thanks to Mrs.Winston from PRHA for assisting with this program for two years in a row .
