Jesus fulfilled Isaiah 61:1-2, bringing good news to the poor (Mt 5:3-5; 11:5; Lk 4:16-21; 7:22). He embraced the social and religious outcasts. His presence to them, his inviting them into community, his feeding them, his making them into disciples, was grace-based deliverance. This Beatitude is pointing to the good news that Isaiah’s prophetic celebration of God’s justice as deliverance of the poor, oppressed, humble, needy, weak and lowly, is happening in Jesus the Messiah and in the community practices of Jesus’ followers. Because God is actively delivering the humble and the poor, Jesus’ followers can rejoice—because as a community we participate in this deliverance. What greater meaning in life can there be than to participate, even in a little way, like a mustard seed, in the deliverance that God is bringing in Jesus?

I just have not had the chance to thank the people sooner before now whom gave of their time, with wonderful effort in helping bring forth a vision given to me by the Lord many years ago. With their help God was able to bring forth bags of food to the Spring Fest event held in the Cradock Square located in Portsmouth. There was at the very least 250 bags of food given by a mighty God to help many supplement their weekly cost of living with enough left over to help the area Church. It was a great warm and pleasant Saturday event last week of May 2, 2015. I first give thanks to the Lord Jesus for the example that He has given to all of us freely. I say thank you to Tonya and Edwin Street who worked hard to coordinate the whole event in the square. Thank you to Dan and Julie Strong whom helped with the late night bagging and sorting “Thanks Cuz”. Thanks to Kevin and Angel Howard, for the use of their car port to start staging out the product that was received so late in the evening, and for the use of Kevin truck the following day. Thanks to Pastor Allen and the Sanctuary of Hope with the use of the Hope truck operated by Deacon McKenzie whom helped also with the offloading. And a wonderful Thank you goes out to Operation Blessing Ryan Foltz, and Dan Weber. Thank you everyone, remember a vision from God to do great and wonderful works are our reality.
