The legacy of Dorothy Knost lives on through our annual children's summer music workshop. Knost is best remembered as a local piano teacher whose career spanned six decades. She had a vision for the children of this area to have an opportunity to experience all types of music. The DK Chidren's Summer Music Workshop was established in 1973. Knost had specific criteria for this workshop:
1. There wo

uld be no charge for children to attend.
2. Area musicians would donate their time for the children.
3. Children would choose their classes based on their interests.
4. Each day children would experience a concert/recital. Knost's passion, perseverance, and dream, the Dorothy Knost Children's Summer Music Workshop has been offered in our community since 1973.

Daily concerts for DOROTHY KNOST CHILDREN’S SUMMER MUSIC WORKSHOP are free and open to the public.
GENRES OF MUSIC:
Monday: Sacred music (special appearances by Cornerstone Praise Team, Andy and Tyson McGinnis, Gospel group led by David Malone, Southern Gospel group led by Jerry Moore)
Tuesday: Classical music featuring harpist Tehya Hazelbaker
Wednesday: Country group, Hannah Wheeler and the Heartaches, from Lexington, KY.
Thursday: Jazz group led by Tony McKrimmon
Friday: Celtic group, THE LADIES OF LONGFORD from Dublin OH, led by Hilda Fenton Doyle

Concerts are in the sanctuary of Cornerstone Church of Portsmouth, daily at 10:50-11:30am.
