Join the Midway Business Association today from 5PM tp 9PM at Bohio Studio for Pet Zoofrenda!

Pet Zoofrenda is not an exhibition about the death of our pets; it is a celebration of the life they shared with us and the memories they left behind.

Artists Alejandro Barragán, Simran Gleason, and Hampton Rodriguez come together at Bohío Studio to explore, through three distinct artistic languages, the bonds, memories, and joy that animals bring into our lives.

Through painting, collage, illustration, and tradition, the exhibition offers a different perspective on Día de Mu***os, in which dogs, cats, axolotls, birds, and other animals become the protagonists of a colorful and heartfelt celebration. As a central feature of the exhibition, Alejandro Barragán will create two altars: one dedicated to the world of pets, and another collective, interactive altar where visitors are invited to participate by bringing photographs, small objects, and keepsakes that honor their own animals.

In this way, Pet Zoofrenda not only presents the work of three artists—it grows through the stories, memories, and love shared by the entire community.

Help support small businesses by supporting The Fair Share Tax Ordinance! This ordinance cuts small business taxes by raising the Business License Tax (BLT) exemption from $75,000 in sales to $500,000. This will mean that about 18,000 small businesses pay nothing. Affected businesses will have an average savings of around $900.

The City’s Revenue Division estimates that the Fair Share Tax will bring in $72 million a year in new revenue ($88 million in new revenue from the CEO surtax minus $16 million from the tax cut for small businesses). The Fair Share Tax lowers costs for small businesses while mega corporations are incentivized to increase wages for employees and reduce exorbitant pay differentials between CEOs and their median worker.

You can testify on the Fair Share Tax at the Committee of the Whole meeting on Thursday, October 8th at 9:30 am. Both in person and virtual testimony are welcome (written is also available), we hope to see you there. Register for testimony or submit written testimony to Council. LINK IS IN OUR BIO.
