Celebrating Our 2026 Homeowner of the Year: Candice Woods! 🎉

Some people don't just make a difference in their communities. They dedicate their lives to lifting others up. Candice Woods is one of those people.

We're incredibly proud to recognize Candice, a homeowner with Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County, as Habitat Michigan's 2026 Homeowner of the Year! 🏡

For more than 30 years, Candice has devoted herself to serving others. She's helped establish four food pantries, supported individuals and families facing difficult circumstances, and continues to lead community outreach and food assistance efforts through her church.

After overcoming challenges on her own journey to homeownership, Candice became a Habitat homeowner in January 2026. But her Habitat story didn't end when she received the keys!

Today, she continues to volunteer at Habitat Oakland's ReStores, encourages others to explore homeownership opportunities, and shares her experience to inspire families who may feel discouraged.

In Candice's own words:

"Becoming a Habitat homeowner has given me stability, but it has also reminded me that every blessing comes with an opportunity to give back."
