Every woman comes to Refined with her own story, but when we ask women what they remember about the night, they keep talking about the other women in the room.

They tell us they felt comfortable. Less alone. Free to be honest without feeling judged. They talk about worshipping beside women who understood and being reminded of God’s truth in the middle of what they were walking through.

I think that says a lot about why community matters.

You don’t need everyone around you to have lived your exact story. But there is something really special about finding women who understand enough that you don’t have to explain every part of it.

You know that feeling when someone says, “I get it,” and you can tell they actually do?

That matters when you’ve spent so much time trying to explain why infertility is still hard, why your loss still affects you, or why you’re not “over it” just because time has passed.

Women have described Refined as welcoming, non-judgmental, a place where they felt less alone, and a room full of women who understood.
That’s the room we’re getting ready for on October 16.

Refined started in a living room in 2018.

We didn’t know then how many women would eventually walk through these nights. Women waiting for a baby. Women grieving babies they love and miss. Women trying to figure out what faith looks like when their story hasn’t gone the way they prayed it would.

Eight years later, we’re still gathering.

Not because the stories are all the same, but because women still need somewhere they can bring the hard parts of infertility and loss and be pointed back to Jesus.
Next Friday, we gather again.

She may tell you, “We’re starting another cycle.”

What she may not say is how scared she is to hope again.

She may tell you she’s recovering from a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy without telling you how hard it is to grieve while her body is still healing.

She may tell you they’ve been trying for years without telling you she’s starting to wonder if motherhood will ever happen for her.

And she may tell you she’s praying without telling you that she’s also angry, confused, or wondering why God hasn’t answered.

Listen to what she tells you, and remember it.

Check on her again. Pray specifically. Ask God for wisdom about how to care for her instead of assuming she’ll tell you when she needs something.

Sometimes being loved well starts with realizing there was more behind the sentence she gave you.

Save this for the next time you’re wondering how to support a woman walking through infertility or pregnancy loss.

Some days you may feel okay, and then something you didn’t expect brings it all back.

You can be thankful for what God is doing in your life and still wish part of your story had gone differently. You can celebrate someone else and still feel your own ache. You can trust Jesus and still have questions about why this happened.

Grief doesn’t always fit neatly into one emotion, and neither does faith.
You’re allowed to bring all of it with you.

Sometimes sending her the link isn't the same as going with her.
