The Texas Fallen Officer Foundation was formed in 2015 with a progressive vision of providing monetary support and resources for police officers killed or critically injured throughout the State of Texas. Many law enforcement agencies in rural and small geographical regions of Texas do not have the resources to support fallen law enforcement officers, so this organization has formed in hopes of “b

ridging the gap”. Our organization is a diverse group comprised of law enforcement officers, businessmen, and community leaders - all with the mission in mind of helping "fallen" police officers and their families throughout the State.

On May 31st, police responded to a report of a shooting in Midlothian, Virginia. A male that was involved in a domestic dispute with his mother fired shots in her direction. As officers from the Chesterfield County Police Department arrived on scene, the woman told dispatch she had retreated to an upstairs bedroom and her son was attempting to get inside.

When police entered the residence, the suspect opened fire on them with a long gun, critically wounding two of the officers and killing K-9 Knight. The gunman was also injured in the exchange of gunfire and was taken to the hospital. He has since been charged with two counts of attempted aggravated murder, one count of killing a police dog and several other offenses.

K9 Knight was a 5-year old German Shepherd and Malinois mix from Slovakia, and proudly served alongside his handler Corporal John Walsh for the past four years. Throughout his career, the beloved K9 assisted in numerous operations involving tracking and apprehension, helping officers safely carry out their mission and return home to their families.
