Thank you to all who stopped by our Round Up event at Land Grant on Wednesday! Our bird kittens loved meeting and snuggling you (maybe some loved it more than others). At a time when nonprofits are struggling, every cent makes a difference, and coming to support and round up your bill means so much to us. And if you donated extra, we sincerely thank you. All money goes directly into TNR, vet care, and foster supplies for central Ohio cats.

If you fell in love with Griffin, Piper, Chickadee, or Phoenix on Wednesday, apply to adopt at our website!

Look forward to seeing you next time!!

Our sweet and sassy girl, Smokey, left for her forever home this past weekend!

Smokey came into our care back in April after her caretakers reached out to us for help. She was a very loved community kitty but her caretakers decided that a home of her own would be the best next chapter for her.

Smokey is a friendly girl with plenty of personality, although she doesn’t always appreciate sharing her space with other kitties! Thankfully, she won’t have to! Smokey is now the only kitty in her new home, where she has a family who absolutely adores her. She’ll even have new dog brothers to keep her company!

And perhaps one of the best parts—Smokey gets to stay part of the APN family. She was adopted by one of our wonderful volunteers and we couldn’t be happier knowing she’ll be so loved and well cared for.

Thank you to Smokey’s new family for opening your heart and your home to this sweet and sassy girl. We’re so grateful ❤️

We love you Smokey!

Give a warm welcome to....Robin!
This little cutie showed up alone in a managed colony, likely dumped, with no siblings or mother at just around 10 weeks old. Since she was weaned and extremely friendly, we quickly got her into a foster home where she'll be able to learn house kitten life along with foster siblings around her age, our bird crew! This is how we chose her name, and we think she'll fit right in with Chickadee, Piper, Phoenix, and Griffin! 🐦‍⬛🐦🐤🪶

She appears under nourished and a bit dehydrated, but she warmed up in her foster home right away, received a flea bath, has started eating well and using the litter box. She will make an amazing companion when she is ready!

Caring for Robin will mean more visits to the vet, which has really racked up expenses for our small organization during kitten season.

If you are able, donations are always appreciated more than we can tell you. Donations can be made to our Zeffy (see link in Instagram bio or our website).

We also have a Chewy Wishlist you can find on our website, www.animalprotectionnetwork.org.

Please help us wish Robin a healthy, speedy journey through foster care!

Some of our foster kitties had a vet appointment this morning!

Latte and Pearl, two beautiful girls who were rescued from a colony in Chillicothe along with their mom, Coco a couple months ago.

Latte (colorpoint) and Pearl (Gray) were in today for vaccines, triple testing and a physical exam! We’re happy to share they received a clean bill of health! They still have some vetting ahead of them along with their spay surgeries but they are both doing wonderfully.

We can’t get enough of them— they’re absolutely adorable!!

Bentley (gray tabby) and Boris (colorpoint), two handsome bonded brothers were in today for a recheck of their skin. They were also due for some annual vaccine boosters. They received a clean bill of health and will officially be on the lookout for their forever home ㅤ♡.

Every cat who comes into our care receives the medical care they need before becoming available for adoption. Medical care is, by far, our largest expense and this year that need has grown significantly.

We’ve taken in more cats and kittens than ever before and have been fortunate enough to expand our foster network so we can help more cats who need us. But with that comes a growing need for medical care and those expenses are adding up quickly.

As a nonprofit that relies entirely on donations, we could really use your help right now.

If you’re able, please consider making a donation or becoming a monthly donor. We’re truly grateful for every person who helps us continue caring for these kitties. ㅤ♡

We want to introduce to you one of our long term foster kitties.

Meet Carter ♡

Carter joined the APN family in April of 2025 after being found alone outside. He had been living apart of an established colony. But he clearly didn’t belong— he was friendly, outgoing and loved interacting with humans.

We brought Carter into foster and began getting him the care he had gone so long without. Carter was neutered, triple tested, vaccinated, treated for fleas/parasites and checked for an existing microchip— which he didn’t have.

Toward the end of May 2025 Carters foster mom, who has treated 4 cats for FIP previously, noticed some concerning symptoms, lethargy, loss of appetite, he was warm to touch and just overall not himself. Carter was rushed to the ER after after a day of having a consistent fever that wasn’t coming down with home care. Carter was checked out at the ER, given fluids, medicine to help break his fever and an ultra sound of his abdomen to check for free fluid. We followed up with our primary vet a day or two later where more diagnostic tests were done. Based on his symptoms, FIP was strongly suspected. After getting his bloodwork results, we sent them to an FIP group based out of Ohio to look over. We have worked with this amazing group many times and have treated a total of 6 cats under our rescue. Their expertise, guidance and compassion is unrivaled.

Carter began treatment immediately. For the next 84 days Carter underwent dry FIP treatment. The injections were rough on him. Both him and his foster mom struggled. Eventually Carter was able to switch over to oral medication and the remainder of his treatment was smooth sailing. Day after day he began to feel better.

Carter finished his 84 days of medication and moved to the next phase— 84 days of observation. This phase is designed to monitor for any signs of relapse. He did amazing. After observation and confirmation from bloodwork this beautiful boy officially graduated and was considered cured! An amazing accomplishment for an illness that was just a short time ago considered a death sentence.

Since then, Carter has been doing amazing. Lately, he’s had some watery eyes which we’ve been working with our vet to determine why but he’s a happy healthy boy. He is such a sweet and snuggly kitty. His foster mom describes him as a velcro kitty— if there’s an opening on your lap— he’s on his way! He always wants to be snuggled up right next to his people.

He will make the most amazing companion for someone one day. Hopefully soon, we’ll be able to start the search for his very own forever family— he deserves the very best.

Do you have an FIP survivor? If so, we’d love to see pictures of them!

Bob in all his glory✨

Playtime is serious business for Bob. He loves chasing toys, showing off his impressive moves and keeping himself busy with anything that looks remotely fun 😹.

He’s looking for a forever family who can match his enthusiasm for play and give him the stimulation and attention he loves. Bob has plenty of personality to share— and he’s still waiting for the right family to come along! ❤️
