Meet Perry! 🩶

Perry is a handsome gray tabby estimated to be just over a year old. Perry first came into our care through our TNVR program. After being neutered, vaccinated and receiving the care he needed, he was returned to his outdoor home because he wasn't quite ready for indoor life. One of our dedicated volunteers continued to care for and monitor him and over the following months, it became clear that something had changed.

The once-independent outdoor guy had started seeking out attention, lingering around for affection and no longer seemed content living outside. More importantly, it became apparent that life outdoors was no longer the safest place for him. So, Perry came back into our care—this time to begin his journey as an indoor cat.

He's now been with us in foster care for the past few months and we've learned so much about this wonderful boy.

One of Perry's most charming qualities is that he absolutely adores dogs! He seems to genuinely prefer the company of calm, respectful canine friends and would love a home with a gentle dog companion. While he does just fine with other cats and could happily coexist with one or two laid-back feline friends, he's perfectly content doing his own thing.

With his people, Perry is incredibly affectionate. He loves being doted on, happily accepts belly rubs and will never turn down a Churu treat. He can be a little shy when meeting new people or adjusting to a new environment, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality shines through. Before long, he's asking for attention and rewarding you with a loud, happy purr.

Perry is fully vetted and ready for his forever home. He is neutered, microchipped, current on his rabies, FVRCP and FeLV vaccinations (including boosters), has tested negative for FIV, FeLV, and heartworm disease, has a negative f***l test and has been treated for fleas and ticks.

Now all Perry needs is a family to call his own—and if he had his way, a friendly dog sibling to share it with.

If you think Perry could be the perfect addition to your family, we'd love to hear from you! Send us a message to learn more or schedule a meet and greet. He is currently at our Petsmart adoption center at the plain city Petsmart!

Sweet Gomez has officially made his PetSmart return and we're hoping this time it's the beginning of his forever story. ā¤ļø

Gomez has been in our care since November after he was found wandering the streets all alone. Since then, he's watched so many of his foster friends find loving homes while he continues to wait. And to be honest... we just can't understand why.

Gomez is truly a delightful guy.

He's confident, curious and always wants to know what you're doing. He has the cutest little face, a playful personality and enough charm to win over just about anyone who meets him.

The only thing Gomez loves more than attention is... food! This boy takes mealtime very seriously and will happily "supurrvise" to make sure his dinner is up to his standards. When he's not keeping an eye on the food bowl, you'll find him batting around his favorite toys, playing with his kitty friends, keeping up with the birds from the window, or soaking up affection from the people he loves.

At the end of the day, Gomez is simply a sweetie. He loves forehead kisses, belly rubs and gently nuzzling his face into yours. He's the kind of cat that settles into your life and makes himself right at home.

Gomez is fully vetted and ready for adoption. He is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated (including rabies, FVRCP with booster and FeLV with booster), flea and tick treated, f***l tested negative for intestinal parasites and has tested negative for FeLV and heartworm.

Gomez is FIV positive, but don't let that discourage you. FIV-positive cats can live long, happy, healthy lives. Because Gomez is such a gentle boy, he is considered to be at little to no risk of transmitting FIV to other friendly cats, as the virus is primarily spread through deep bite wounds—not through grooming, sharing food and water bowls, or simply living together. He requires no special care beyond the prompt and routine veterinary care every cat deserves.

Gomez has done wonderfully with the other cats in his foster home and would likely enjoy having a feline friend in his forever family.

This sweet tabby boy has been waiting since November for someone to choose him. We know his perfect family is out there—we just need to help them find him.

If you'd like to meet Gomez, please send us a message. And if you aren't able to adopt, sharing his story could make all the difference in helping him find the home he's been waiting so patiently for.

Meet Smokey!

Our sweet Smokey made her PetSmart debut last week and is officially ready to find the forever home she's been waiting for!

This beautiful medium haired gray girl is estimated to be around two years old.

Smokey is a sweet, gentle kitty who enjoys attention from her people and likes being involved in whatever you're doing. She's curious, confident and has a fun, playful personality. Whether she's chasing a wand toy, batting around her favorite toy mice, or trying to catch the mice on YouTube TV, Smokey is always ready for a little adventure. And if you've had a long day, she'll happily keep you company with a few quiet chats and some snuggles.

Smokey's life wasnt always easy.

Before coming into our care, Smokey was living in a trailer park about 40 minutes outside of Columbus, where she had litter after litter and never had the chance to experience life as an indoor cat. Thankfully, she was looked after by wonderful caretakers who cared deeply for her and did everything they could to keep her safe.

Knowing she deserved so much more, they reached out to us for help.

Over the past couple of months in foster care, it's been a joy to watch Smokey settle into indoor life and let her personality shine. She's discovered the comfort of soft beds, toys and regular meals. Now she's ready for the next chapter- a forever home to call her own.

Smokey is spayed, fully vaccinated (Rabies, FVRCP with booster and FeLV with booster), triple tested for FIV, FeLV and heartworm, f***l tested negative for intestinal parasites, treated for fleas and ticks and microchipped.

Smokey is FIV positive but FeLV and heartworm negative. The good news is that she is otherwise a healthy cat and requires no special day-to-day care beyond what any well-loved cat would need. FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, so because Smokey is friendly and non-aggressive, she can safely live with other FIV-negative cats and has done so successfully.

Smokey would do well either as the only cat in the home or with another calm, easygoing feline companion.

If you're interested in meeting Smokey, please send us a message!

You can also learn more by visiting her Petfinder profile and filling out an adoption application.

We have some new faces to introduce you to!

Yesterday, as part of the trap/spay-neuter/vaccinate/release (TNVR) efforts we've been supporting in a neighborhood of Southeast Columbus, we brought three kittens into foster care who are about 9 weeks old. Pending their full vetting and socialization, they are well on their way to our adoption program!

This family of strays were discovered recently by a neighbor while she was walking her dog. She noticed the kittens' mother, still pregnant at the time, living with her two older offspring on the porch of a home and notified APN volunteers. After speaking with the homeowner, we found out the mama, called Cleo, had been having litters there for years; tirelessly raising them all on this porch. Their feeders clearly care very much for this family but, as many do, just needed a little support in bringing their reproducing to an end. We are grateful they allowed us to step in.

We were unable to trap and spay mama Cleo before she gave birth, and these three sweet faces entered the world. We allowed this loving and experienced mama to raise the kittens until they were weaned, and once they were ready and we had built trust with mama Cleo, a foster home opened up and we brought them to their loving and well-equipped care to begin their indoor house cat journeys. While early socialization opportunities were limited in order to prevent mama from hiding the kittens, we were able to get the kittens comfortable around people and allow pets while they ate wet food. We are so excited to see their sweet personalities come out as they adjust to their new lives.

Mama Cleo and her oldest son Cole are on the short list for spay/neuter appointments, while her older daughter Chloe was thankfully spayed and returned about a month ago.

Without the support of you, our community, stories like this wouldn't be possible. Mama Cleo and all her offspring would continue to have kittens who would have to learn to survive outdoors, vulnerable to all the threats outdoor living brings, if they were lucky enough to make it.

If you feel inclined to help this family and others just like them, support can come in many ways - donating for veterinary care and supplies, sending supplies from our Chewy wishlist, offering a place in your home to temporarily foster other cats in similar situations, spreading awareness, and more. We are so grateful to have three more bright feline faces in our care, but the reality is this work will always come with a price. Your support allows us to keep saying yes to these animals in need that we come across every day.

Please send the kittens well wishes as they move through their bright new chapters in life! Names, genders, and more updates to come!

We have some wonderful news to share!

Last week, Chance and Charlotte were adopted together!

These sweet siblings now have a family of their own, two human siblings to grow up with and a home where they will be loved, spoiled and cherished for the rest of their lives.

Last fall, Chance and Charlotte, their mama and three siblings were discovered living in a manufacturing facility about an hour northwest of Columbus. They were just tiny kittens trying to survive in a place that was never meant for them. They searched for food wherever they could find it, often jumping in huge trash receptacles and eating whatever scraps were available. By the time they came into our care, they were all quite sick.

Getting this family to safety wasn't easy. They were living around dangerous equipment and in an environment where very few people seemed concerned about what happened to them.

But eventually, we got all 5 babies and momma out safely.

Today, Chance and Charlotte don't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. They don't have to fight to survive. They don't have to face the dangers they once did.

Instead, they have a family. They have security. They have love. They have a future.

To their wonderful adopters, thank you for opening your hearts and your home to these two. Thank you for choosing rescue and for giving them the life every cat deserves.

And to everyone who supports APN in any way—whether you volunteer, donate, share our posts, or simply cheer our cats on from afar—thank you. Stories like this are only possible because of you.

Chance and Charlotte, it has been such a privilege to be part of your journey. We are so incredibly happy for you.

Have the most beautiful life. We love you both. šŸ¤

Thanks to dedicated and caring APN volunteer Heidi for making a difference.

Meet Sammy. He’s one of the many stray cats from the west side of Columbus, an area with a significant feral and stray cat population. Sammy was part of the neighborhood colony when he was found outside my house. Since moving here in September 2024, I’ve been dedicated to helping these cats through TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) programs.

To date, I’ve TNVR’d 14 cats in the area. Four have found loving homes, five are currently in foster care, and the rest have been safely returned to their outdoor environment, healthier and protected. Some of these cats had heartwarming success stories—Stevie, the calico long hair you may remember, was also trapped in the neighborhood and has been adopted! Pearl, an all-white senior cat, required dental care but was later adopted along with one of her kittens, Penny.

Every success solidifies this mission, but there are still many others like Sammy who need help. With patience, resources, and care, we can change their lives. šŸ“·ā¤ļø
