I need to order some 'stuff' and I didn't realize what the final cost would be for my list. I'm in a bit of a panic right now...

Dasuquin - $50 (for Mack, Allie, MJ & Faith)
Naraquin - $20 (for Faith's kidneys)
Denamarin - $45 (for Allie's liver)
Filaquin - $40 (for Trixie's a**l glands)
Clindacure - $50 (Lou's cancer med)

Oh - and I need to buy a big bag of food which is another -$60
Back in the day, it just didn't cost this much to have a pet it seemed. Nowadays, owning a pet is truly like having a luxury item.

After all the unplanned vet visits with Trixie's a**l gland issue, I'm totally in the hole UGH! It adds up so damn quick it seems...

Anyone win big in the lottery recently and wanna share? 🙄

PS Lou's still hangin in there with good days and some not as good. But like many small breeds, he's a spitfire

Whelp - Trixie's one a**l gland ruptured today at her vet recheck. Lovely! So now we get to go back on Wed & again on Saturday. If it's not resolving, chances are she'll need surgery. We're having flashbacks of Cole & wondering how much this will cost so hoping some progress is made. So keep Trixie's butt in your prayers...

So today's 'fire to put out' involved Trxie. I would share a pic but I'm sure you don't want to see her inflamed a**l gland that looked like a grape next to her butt hole. We were able to get her into the vet before it ruptured. Apparently we cut it pretty close though. She's now on antibiotics and we need to take her back on Monday for a recheck. Chances are she'll need to get them expressed every few days until the inflammation goes down - yay. 🙄 She's got a donut on but doesn't seem to mind (thankfully). No better way to spend a lovely Saturday...

Thank you to the anon donor of the Chewy giftcard. We will be sure to put it towards some treats. We don't have a lot of extra funds for anything other than the necessities so donations mean so much to the dogs in our care.

L***r went to the vet today to get his rabies booster (he did really well given he doesn't leave the house much) and I needed to restock Faith's arthritis med. So we started out the day writing a check for a vet visit 🙄

What an absolutely gorgeous day today! The dogs were actually running outside without all the heat & humidity for a change. It was L***r approved for sure 🥰

Today is the birthday of our infamous boy Mack. He turns 13 and he is the only dog in the rescue over the years that was born here & still is here. He has been a friend to ANY dog he's met no matter their age or size - totally bulletproof we like to say. Mack has certainly paid it forward helping the many others that have come through our doors.
He's now got lots of lumps & bumps and certainly isn't as spry as he used to be, but then again neither am I. We recently learned of his sister Shay's passing, sadly. So my mind automatically goes to - how many more birthdays does he have? Whatever the answer, we'll make the time we have left memorable.
