Join the Musconetcong Watershed Association for our Annual Business Meeting on Thursday, June 11!

Over the past year, together we’ve restored habitat, improved water quality, expanded educational programs, and continued advocating for the health of the Musconetcong River. Our Annual Meeting is a chance to celebrate that progress, hear what’s ahead, and connect with others who care about our watershed and communities.

Thursday, June 11 | 7:00–9:30 PM
Hawk Pointe Golf Club

Enjoy coffee, dessert, and conversation while hearing updates from MWA leadership, voting on Trustees and by-laws, and learning about current initiatives, including:

Water quality monitoring and protection efforts, including PFAS and microplastics
Educational programming for students of all ages
Community programs like River Talks, Free Fishing Day, and paddling trips
Native plantings and stormwater education initiatives

Join the Musconetcong Watershed Association and PEACENJ for a fin-tastic Free Fishing Day celebration! Anglers of all ages are invited to Doug A. Blake Memorial (Alumni) Field in Hackettstown, NJ, on Saturday, June 6th, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM for a morning of learning and fishing fun.

Whether you're a seasoned pro or new to the sport, you'll have the chance to learn valuable skills and information, including:

Fishing 101: Master the basics of casting, knot-tying, and more!
What's in the River? Discover the amazing aquatic life that calls the Musconetcong home.

Fly Fishing & Spin Fishing: Explore different fishing techniques.
River Ecology & Watersheds: Understand the importance of a healthy river ecosystem.

Join Us This Sunday at O’sakame Preserve

There’s still time to volunteer for Holland Township’s invasive plant identification and removal event!

Join volunteers, community partners, and conservation advocates for a morning of hands-on stewardship focused on removing invasive plant species and restoring native habitat throughout the preserve.

Removing invasive plants helps create healthier ecosystems for birds, pollinators, and wildlife while allowing native species the space they need to thrive.

Event Details:
Sunday, June 7, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM | O’sakame Preserve (355 Riegelsville Milford Rd, Milford, NJ)

Please arrive by 8:45 AM to allow time for parking and sign-in.

Rain Date: June 14

What to Bring:
• Gardening/work gloves
• Water and snacks
• Long sleeves and pants
• Gardening/removal tools if available

Volunteers must be 13 years or older. Volunteers ages 13–17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

This event is made possible through a partnership between the AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program and the Holland Township Environmental Commission.

Looking for a meaningful way to spend a Sunday morning outdoors?

Join volunteers, community partners, and conservation advocates at O’sakame Preserve for a hands-on invasive plant identification and removal event in Holland Township!

Participants will learn how to identify and remove invasive species while helping restore native habitat for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife throughout the preserve.

What to Bring:
• Gardening/work gloves
• Water and snacks
• Long sleeves and pants
• Gardening/removal tools if available (loppers, hand clippers, pruning saws, rakes, tarps)

The summer monitoring season is right around the corner—and we’re gearing up for another year of hands-on data collection across the Musconetcong Watershed.

Your data helps inform real decisions around restoration, public health, and watershed management. No experience needed—just a willingness to learn and get out on the water.

This summer, we’re focusing on:
Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) and Bacteria Monitoring

Want to get involved? Join us for:

Bacteria Training
Tuesday, May 26 | 6:00–7:00 PM | MWA Offices (10 Maple Ave, Asbury, NJ 08802)

Missed the HAB training? No problem! There is an option in the sign up to have materials send to you.

Monitoring kicks off in June and runs through October on a bi-weekly schedule.
