Meet Member of the Month, Audrey Blumberg!
Audrey Blumberg began her career in print journalism after graduating from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and professional writing. Audrey started as a government reporter for the Princeton Packet Newspaper Group, focusing on Hillsborough and Manville in Somerset County. After three years, Audrey moved to Patch Media, where She served as the local editor for the newly launched Bridgewater Patch site, and later added on sites covering Bernardsville and Bedminster, and Watchung and Warren.
During that time, Audrey also earned my Master of Arts degree in media studies and a certificate in media management from the New School.
In 2012, Audrey was approached by the original owners of The BReeze newspaper, a local monthly paper owned by a Bridgewater couple who had started it in 2009. They were looking to retire and approached Audrey with a proposition for taking over the paper and running it herself. Since she was looking to branch out and had always loved print newspapers (and the process of creating the papers), Audre took the leap and became the owner of The BReeze, covering Bridgewater and Raritan Borough.
About one year later, Audrey decided she wanted to bring the newspaper online to cover events, breaking news and more that was happening throughout the month, and keep the news available and accessible every day. Audrey found TAPinto and knew it would be the right fit because she would be able to keep her autonomy in running her publication, while also having aid in the back-end work of building and creating a website, plus the support of other editors. Audrey signed on in May 2014, and it has been going strong ever since.
In late 2019, Audrey was looking to expand her reach a little further, and the opportunity arose to take on the TAPinto Flemington-Raritan site, which was owned by someone who had decided to go on a different career path. Then, in 2024, Audrey decided to expand even further and open a print newspaper in the Flemington-Raritan-Readington area, to bring the news into people’s homes both in print and online. It is a new venture, and, coupled with TAPinto, she is very excited about the possibilities going forward.
In 2026, Audrey had the opportunity to grow even more with taking ownership of The Branchburg News, the newspaper covering Branchburg Township in Somerset County, and the opening of the new TAPinto Branchburg site.
Outside of her work, Audrey also volunteers where she can in the communities. She is a member of the board of education at her synagogue, Temple Sholom in Bridgewater. And, as of 2023, she has been working with the United Way of Hunterdon County, serving on the development committee to help get the word out about the organization. As a member of BW NICE Somerset County since 2015, Audrey has served as the Communications and Social Media Director for the Chapter since 2016.
