We asked for help restocking our pet food shelf, because our four-legged clients need to eat too… and YOU showed up!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, our pet food shelf is looking FULL, stocked, and ready to keep tails wagging and bowls filled! 🐶🐱

Every bag, every can, every donation makes a difference for a family who is doing their best to keep their beloved pets fed and cared for.

🍝 A FEW WEEKS AGO, THIS SHELF WAS FULL.
We received a huge donation of spaghetti sauce just a few short weeks ago.

Today? It’s gone. Every last jar.

And that’s the reality of a food pantry. What may look like a large donation to us can disappear incredibly quickly when you’re feeding families in our community.

We are so grateful for every person who helps keep our shelves stocked — but the need keeps coming.

🌱 Growing a garden this year? Your extra harvest can help fill more than your kitchen table. ❤️

If you have more tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, cucumbers, squash, or other fresh produce than you can use, we’d love for you to share your garden surplus with our neighbors through Open Cupboard Food Pantry.

Our produce case is looking a little bare right now… but you can help us fill it! 🥕🍅🥒

We are closed Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7 so our volunteers can enjoy Labor Day weekend. 🇺🇸 But starting Tuesday, September 8, bring us what your garden has to spare. Every extra vegetable can become part of a meal for one of our clients.

❤️ VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: MEET CATHY! ❤️

Cathy has been part of the Open Cupboard family for quite some time. She started with us at our Clinton location, and now we’re lucky to call Washington her home!

A former teacher and principal, Cathy has an incredible gift for helping others. She patiently teaches and guides new volunteers, is always willing to explain things, and is often a listening ear for clients who may simply need someone to talk to.

She has a huge heart, a willingness to help, and a kindness that shines through in everything she does. Cathy is also someone you can always count on—she shows up for our events, jumps in wherever she’s needed, and never hesitates to lend a hand.

We are incredibly lucky to have Cathy as part of the Open Cupboard family. Please join us in thanking Cathy for her incredible service and all the ways she gives back to our neighbors, our volunteers, and our pantry. ❤️

A little kindness goes a long way. ❤️

Today, some amazing youth from High Bridge Reformed Church stopped by to donate a few items to the pantry. What may seem like just a handful of groceries can mean a meal, a little relief, and a reminder to a neighbor that their community cares.

❤️ When we ask, you show up. And we promise to always be transparent about what our neighbors need.

We have been absolutely blown away by the generosity of our donors lately. Every bag, box, case, and donation makes a difference for the families who walk through our doors. Thank you for continuing to show up for our community. ❤️

But today, we have a special request… for our furry neighbors. 🐾

Studies have shown that people facing food insecurity will often feed their pets before feeding themselves. That’s because our pets aren’t “just pets.” They are family. They provide comfort, companionship, and unconditional love—especially during difficult times.

So when we ask for cat food and dog food, we aren’t simply filling a shelf. We are helping a family keep their family together. 🐶🐱❤️
