Friendly Sons Award 2026 High School Scholarships at Annual Scholarship Dinner on May 7, 2026
The Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to scholarship, service, and investing in the future leaders in the community during its Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner at Fox Hill Country Club on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The evening celebrated deserving graduating seniors from Wyoming Area and Pittston Area who have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to giving back to others. This year’s scholarship recipients, Emma Kratz from Wyoming Area Secondary Center and Callie Shannon from Pittston Area High School each received a $4,000 direct scholarship based on a successful, blind-reviewed application and responses to questions regarding the meaning of Irish Heritage, Family, Scholarship and commitment to the local Community. This fall, Emma will attend the University of Pittsburgh, and Callie will attend King’s College.
Through its scholarship program, the Friendly Sons continues its mission of supporting worthy young women and men as they pursue higher education and future careers, while encouraging them to remain rooted in the values of service, faith, community, and generosity that have long defined the Greater Pittston region. The annual event reflects the Friendly Sons’ belief that investing in young people is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen the community and move it forward for future generations.
