Soldier On is proud to receive a newly donated bus that will expand access to reliable transportation for veterans across our community. 🚌😁

The bus was presented on Wednesday, June 17th, during the presentation, Soldier On’s Food Service Department hosted a cookout to thank all those involved with the project. 🍔🔥

This vehicle will support our Transportation Department in helping veterans get to medical appointments, employment opportunities, community resources, and other essential services that promote long-term stability and independence.

This incredible donation was made possible through the 60-16 Veterans Awareness Project of Broad Brook, CT, who proudly donated the bus on behalf of those who served.

We are grateful to the many partners and supporters who helped bring this project to life, including:

👏 An anonymous donor for the bus itself
👏 Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, CT Chapter 31-1
👏 The Hometown Foundation (Cheshire, CT)
👏 VFW Post 9544 (Suffield, CT)
👏 Sheridan’s Pro Tech Automotive (Southwick, MA) for mechanical services, brakes, and rotors
👏 Master Craft Auto Body (Windsor Locks, CT) for paint and body work
👏 Signs Plus (East Granby, CT) for vinyl wrapping and logos
👏 Rt. 10 Tire (Granby, CT) for tires and wheels
👏 And the many family members and friends whose contributions made this possible

It truly takes a community to make an impact like this—and together, you’ve helped ensure more veterans can access the services they need to thrive.

For U.S. Army Veteran Stephen Greeley, a donated bicycle means more than a way to get around.

It means reliable transportation to work.
It means easier access to appointments and daily needs.
It means greater independence.

Through GI Go Fund’s more than 10-year partnership with Soldier On and its Supportive Services for Veteran Families program, Stephen recently received a donated bicycle at Soldier On’s Gordon Mansfield affordable housing project in Tinton Falls, NJ.

The bike was donated by New Jersey State Police Detective Sgt. Shawn Bracht and coordinated through a connection made by GI Go Fund board member Sue Niederer, Gold Star mother of 2LT Seth Dvorin, whose service and sacrifice helped inspire the founding of GI Go Fund.

This effort was made possible with support from Tracey Visalli, Soldier On SSVF Case Manager, and Joseph Bongon, GI Go Fund Veterans Assistance Manager.

This is what partnership looks like: a veteran had a transportation need, a donor stepped forward, and the people around him worked together to make sure that need was met.

For more than a decade, GI Go Fund and Soldier On have worked together to help veterans address real-life barriers to stability, including housing, employment, transportation, and access to essential resources.

Sometimes the support that makes the biggest difference is practical, direct, and immediate — helping a veteran get to work, stay connected, and keep moving forward.

Thank you to Detective Sgt. Shawn Bracht, Soldier On, Sue Niederer, Tracey Visalli, and everyone who helped make this possible for Stephen.

Happy Father’s Day! Thank you for your love and support ❤️
