We were excited to host the 1Berkshire - Berkshire Leadership Program (BLP) Advanced Manufacturing session at the BIC.

The BLP cohort got a hands-on, real-world manufacturing experience assembling GAMI Turbo model kits while exploring teamwork, communication, and leadership through the build process.

Huge thanks to Patrick Becker (General Dynamics Mission Systems), Dr. Dennis Rebelo (Berkshire Innovation Center), and Abby Rebelo (Narrative Research Group) for leading an engaging interactive build and discussion.

We also wrapped up the evening with a Berkshire Robotics Challenge presentation featuring We Robot and highlighting the ongoing need for coaches and sponsors.

Episode 29 of My Story Vault with Dr. Dennis Rebelo is LIVE! 🚀

Join us as Aaron Bayer, longtime public school superintendent and educational leader, shares his extraordinary journey from a transient childhood marked by poverty, frequent moves, and personal loss to leading a school district centered on opportunity, student voice, and career education.

Aaron reflects on growing up in California with a family of traveling lounge singers, navigating multiple schools, and finding his place through wrestling, mentorship, and education. After postponing college to help support his family following a move to rural Oregon, he eventually enrolled at community college, earned a degree from Oregon State University, and built a career dedicated to serving young people. Along the way, influential coaches, principals, and community members helped shape his belief that education can transform lives and that every student deserves the opportunity to discover who they are and what they are capable of becoming.

At 16 years old, Aaron Bayer was grappling with the loss of his stepbrother Bobby when a quote on his high school's marquee stopped him in his tracks:

"If you give me a place to stand, I will prove to move the world."

Aaron recalls that the words "really fell onto me, and I internalized that."

What followed was a question he began asking himself:

"Where have you been? What has that journey been that got you to that place? And then where might you be going?"

In this clip from the latest episode of My Story Vault with Dr. Dennis Rebelo, Aaron reflects on a formative moment in his life story and the experiences that ultimately led him to become a public school superintendent in Oregon.
