Join Dr. Yekaterina Barbash from the Brooklyn Museum for an exploration of the connections between the animal kingdom and the Egyptian pantheon, during our When Animals Were Gods: Exploring the Egyptian Pantheon at the Brooklyn Museum special lecture on Saturday, October 10. Discover how these beliefs evolved and ultimately contributed to the practice of animal mummification. Our first major exhibition of the year opens in just TWO WEEKS!

Opening Saturday, October 10, π‘†π‘œπ‘’π‘™π‘“π‘’π‘™ πΆπ‘Ÿπ‘’π‘Žπ‘‘π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘ : π΄π‘›π‘–π‘šπ‘Žπ‘™ π‘€π‘’π‘šπ‘šπ‘–π‘’π‘  𝑖𝑛 𝐴𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝐸𝑔𝑦𝑝𝑑 invites visitors to uncover the fascinating relationship between animals, ritual, and belief in ancient Egypt. On loan from the Brooklyn Museum in Brooklyn, New York, the exhibition features remarkably preserved animal mummies alongside related artifacts, revealing the important role animals played in both religion and daily life. Combining archaeology with modern scientific imaging, Soulful Creatures offers a closer look at the beliefs, practices, and enduring mysteries behind this remarkable ancient tradition.
