DID YOU KNOW? The Habitat Subsidy is what makes our homes affordable.

At Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity, affordable homeownership is made possible through a shared partnership between homeowners, Habitat, volunteers, and the community. A key part of this is the Habitat Subsidy.

Every Habitat home includes a subsidy that lowers the cost of the home and keeps monthly payments affordable.

The subsidy is the difference between the true cost to build a home and the affordable price paid by the homebuyer.

This subsidy is provided through donations, grants, volunteer labor, and community support
—NOT THROUGH ADDITIONAL PAYMENTS FROM THE HOMEOWNER.

Because of the subsidy, CBHFH homeowners receive:
• A home priced below market value
• Monthly payments designed to fit household income
• A safe, energy-efficient, high-quality home

Homeowners remain responsible for their mortgage, property taxes, insurance, and home maintenance. In simple terms, Habitat for Humanity builds homes WITH families, not FOR families. That’s what the Habitat partnership is all about.

We are incredibly grateful to be among the 16 Massachusetts Habitat for Humanity affiliates benefiting from a remarkable $150,000 donation raised during this year's Luxury Home Design Summit. This extraordinary show of generosity demonstrates what can happen when people come together to support safe, affordable housing and stronger communities.

A heartfelt thank you to the donors who made this contribution possible and to Adams + Beasley Associates for their leadership in inspiring such an impactful investment in Habitat's mission throughout the Commonwealth.

Here in Central and Southern Berkshire County, our portion of these funds will help advance current and future building projects, providing critical support as we work alongside local families to create affordable homeownership opportunities. From site development and construction materials to the resources needed to bring future homes to completion, this investment will directly strengthen our efforts to build more homes, serve more families, and create lasting community impact.
