We are pleased to introduce Anna Strzempek…this year’s recipient of the Emma Munson Celebrating Individuality Scholarship! We award this scholarship each year to a North Allegheny HS Senior who demonstrates courage and compassion by staying true to themselves and avoids the distraction of peer pressure. Anna is kind, mature, hard working and family-oriented. She has found ways, at her young age, to stay authentic by doing things that bring her and others happiness. She is truly an amazing young woman and we were so happy to meet her! We wish her all the best as she continues her journey at the University of Pittsburgh to study Speech Pathology. Congratulations Anna!

Day 11 of our our last day!!!! We ended this journey at Sunset Beach and Bird Island. There was a lovely Wind Phone set up at Sunset Beach in honor of a young man and you could “call” and talk to anyone you wanted. I of course talked to Emma all about this trip and it was the perfect way to wrap it up and express some emotions🥹 so grateful for that. We then hopped on our bikes and headed to our last stop Bird Island. We literally ran out of beach since there is some nourishment work going on at the border of South Carolina! We found one final piece of litter before we wrapped up this 11 day journey! We can’t thank you all enough for following along as we worked at each of these 40 beaches. We are thankful for all the kind people we met along the way and our friends and family who refreshed us and broke up the work days by sharing time with us!! We love you. We are part way home already and once we get back we will do one final video with our talley!! Thank you again for sharing this journey with us don’t for get to Love Your Mother❤️🌍

Day 10 of our took us to Caswell Beach, Oak Island, Holden Beach and Ocean Isle. Caswell is kind of a hidden gem. Wide beautiful beach and the sweetest beach police patrol officer driving around passing out bubbles and dog treats to beachgoers! We took a break midday because it was getting so hot and finished up in the evening which was much cooler. We continue to find a lot of the same things…those nasty single use water bottle lids, cigarette butts and lots of baby wipes. Tomorrow we will wrap up this project at Sunset Beach and Bird Island. Thanks for staying with us!!❤️🌍

Day 9 of our we headed to Wrightsville, Freeman Park, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Fort Fisher. It was one of those beautiful not a cloud in the sky kind of days! Wrightsville was one of those beaches that looked clean but when we got to the high tide line (where all the sea gulls are looking for snacks in the seaweed) we found lots of little stuff…mostly plastic water bottle caps but lots of other things too. It was crazy to see the gulls right there picking through and we were hoping they didn’t take anything that could have caused them harm. Carolina Beach has a fun boardwalk and even though the beach was packed there was only a small amount of litter. Freeman Park has done some wonderful improvenebts snd although their pier was damaged, they have garbage cans everywhere and it’s helping. We only have a handful of beaches left to go as we wrap this project up. Thanks for traveling along with us!!!❤️🌍

Day 8 of our took us to ORV beach access, North Topsail, Ocean City Beach, Surf City and Topsail. We met a lot of nice folks and one thing we are noticing is more garbage cans on the beaches which is great! We continue to find lots of little things like bottle caps, straws and plastic wrappers but sometimes we find bigger items too…like clothing!! We ended our day with a very special visit with Neal and Linda Dodson. They are extended family and we are so grateful we got to spend some time with them. Our days are long and tiring but breaks with sweet people like them energize us and make us appreciate this journey even more. Back at it today….thanks for following along❤️🌍

Day 7 of our we got an early start and covered Fort Macon, Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, Indian/Salter Path Beach and Emerald Isle. Found an old tire washed up on the shore, too many cigarette butts and several tags from new beach supplies (take those off before you head to the beach). The very best part of the day…we got to see our dear, best, kind friends Ken and Jen Cobb!! It’s always the highlight of this trip and we are so grateful not only for their friendship but the time they make for us when we pass through. We love you both so much❤️ one final note…I’m a day late🙄 but happy sixth anniversary to bsides_vintage. So proud of the lovely little shop our son Alec has created! Thanks for following along❤️🌍

Day 6 of our was our travel day. We took the ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke Island. After a quick clean up and a beer from 1718 Brewery we headed to catch our next ferry to Cedar Island. We enjoyed the views on the ferries and were able to get our truck reorganized! After a clean up on Cedar Island we headed to the local recycling/dump area and got rid of all our garbage! We will be back at it today getting an early start so we can meet up with our good friends tonight!! Thank you for picking up litter wherever you are and for following along! ❤️🌍

Day 5 of our took us to the beaches of Buxton, Hatteras Light, Cape Point, Frisco and Ramp 55 at the Graveyard of the Atlantic museum where we supported our friends ’a Brewing with their Adopt A Beach! Our day started in Buxton where storms took out many of the houses on the oceanfront. It was sobering to see one teetering in the water. Mother Nature is certainly powerful and it reminds us that she deserves our utmost respect! We met the nicest folks in Frisco! A young surfer Nick who wants to help support our beaches through the Surf Riders Club and a wonderful couple from Long Island who loves picking up litter as much as we do! Thanks Barbara Scibetta! It’s always a pleasure to meet like minded folks who care about our planet! We will be taking the ferry this morning to Ocracoke and from there will take another ferry to Cedar Island and begin the second half of our journey. Thanks again for following along. We hope wherever you are you have a happy Sunday❤️🌍

Day 4 of we worked on Coquina, Pea Island, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Bald Beach and Avon! We found some interesting items including an old refrigerator door that Mike hauled over the highway also a onesie, some bells and a party cup! We also happened upon the cutest little beach access filled with shells and I even got a little wink from my dear friend Laura finding a quarter buried in the sand. One of the signs she shares. It was a long day but we took a break to sit at Bald Beach, one we’ve never been to before. When we reached our Airbnb we found some cute “bee” products that reminded us Emma is certainly with us on this journey. Thank you for following along on our journey. Another busy day ahead❤️🌍
