Saturday morning we outfitted 155 kids with awesome costumes so generously donated by the community! We visited our friends at SHIM in South Hills and the smiles and fun were contagious. This was our second giveaway stop and as usual, we had the best group of volunteers! Special thank you and shout out to Sophia who brought along her sweet friends and huge haul of costumes she collected! She’s been helping us for three years now!! Plus we met a wonderful mother daughter team who volunteered for the first time and were so helpful and had a great time! This program would not work without the help of all of you. If you’d like to join us we could use extra hands at our biggest event this Thursday in Braddock! No experience necessary and we promise you a joyful time. Sometimes when life gets heavy and hard doing something for someone else really lifts your spirits!! Thank you everyone for your help. Keep the donations coming we are just getting started!!🎃❤️

What an incredibly fun night we had with the families and staff of Providence Connections, Inc. We outfitted 100 sweet kids in awesome costumes generously donated by so many of you! We say this all the time but…to witness the joy on a child’s face when they step in front of the mirror and see themselves, it just really fills your heart. Spending time with the grateful families is a true gift. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who help the kids shop and try on whatever they want. And help with all the set up and clean up. We could not do any of this without you. We continue to be amazed by the impact something as simple as a Halloween costume has on a child. Tonight the fun begins as we head out to our first costume event with the families of Providence Connections. This is the place our program first began 10 years ago. We love that we will kick off Halloween 2026 here. We are so very grateful to everyone who has donated and volunteered so far. We will continue to collect costumes throughout October. We have a great need for larger size costumes 10-16 boys and girls. We have a lot of kids in this size range and after our Big Sort realize that we don’t have nearly enough for our 10 events. If you haven’t donated yet and are planning to we would be grateful for bigger sizes! Thank you so much. And if you’d like to volunteer at any of our events we still need help! A big thank you to the incredible group of volunteers who helped us at our Big Sort yesterday!! The task was huge but every single person jumped right in processing, hanging, sorting, filling treat bags! All the while smiling, sharing laughs and making some new friends. We can’t thank you all enough for your hard work. This project is about community from beginning to end. It begins with generosity from so many, then the coming together to help prepare the costumes and then the best part…taking the costumes to the folks who need them. If you haven’t had a chance to help us yet so far we hope you’ll consider joining us at one or more of our giveaway events. It really is the best part of this whole project. To see a child’s face light up when they find just the right costume will truly light you up too. Life is busy and hard at times for everyone but we’ve learned doing something for someone else truly helps lift your spirit. Sign up in the link or just message us! It’s not too late to join us at our Big Sorting event this Sunday from 12-5! Come for as little or long as you want. We have a huge amount of donated costumes to hang and organize! If you’d like to join in please sign up in the link below or PM me for details! Next week is when this project really starts to get fun. We begin taking all the love you have shared through donations out into the community! The joy is infectious and we’d love you to experience it along with us! As we continue to collect costumes the next big step in this project is fast approaching. It’s what we call Our Big Sort!! It’s happening this Sunday, October 4th from 12-5pm. This is when we organize all the donations by size, fill the racks and have a great time! This is a huge job and we need many hands to help. You can come for as long or as little as you like! No experience necessary! You can use the link to sign up or reach out directly with questions! If you’d like to volunteer at one of our ten super joyful giveaway events you can sign up in the attached link for those too! Even if all the spots are filled you are welcome to come anyways. We can always use extra hands and we promise your spirit will be lifted by all the smiles the kids share. We are so very grateful to everyone who has already donated and signed up. This program can’t happen without the help of many! There is something about coming together for the greater good that will warm your heart and renew your faith in humanity. Thank you everyone for your sweet messages for Emma’s Birthday. Your love means so much to us! We are still collecting Halloween costumes and many of you may be wondering "why do you need so many? Where do they go?" We connect with community care organizations throughout Pittsburgh. Places like Providence Connections in Brighton Heights, Hearth in Shaler, For Good Pittsburgh in Braddock, Light of Life Women and Children's program in Northside, Save A Life Today in the West End and we will be in Oakland, Baldwin, East Liberty, Spring Hill, Millvale and Homestead. So there are hundreds of kids looking forward to our events and many families who count on us year after year. This is a group effort and so we are very grateful for all of you who have donated or will donate costumes!!! We hope to get the bulk of our donations by October 2 but we will continue to collect throughout October. So there is still time to donate and we need all sizes! Shout out to Jen Stickle at Sunflower Sprouts Children's Consignment Sale for donating costumes from their latest sale. And to Susan Cable from the Sewickley Academy Clothesline Sale. Did you know last year we gave away nearly 1,100 costumes to kids all over Pittsburgh? This year our program is growing so we need as many costumes as we can get! Please consider donating a new or gently used costume in sizes infant to adult! The older kids sizes 10-16 love scary clowns and goth princesses stuff like that. Superheroes and princesses are always a hit in any size!! We promise your generosity will bring a smile to a child's face in our area. Want to see those faces first hand?
