This morning, Rutgers Army ROTC cadets completed a six-mile ruck in partnership with the River Road Rescue Squad. Cadets carried 35-pound rucksacks along the Delaware Raritan Canal, completing the march in under 100 minutes. Instead of carrying weights, many cadets carried pet food and other necessities to be collected and donated to a local animal shelter, turning every mile into something that gives back. This was an idea brought forward by their MSIll class, led by CDT Kris Kuzar, to honor their classmate, CDT Kaylinn Scully, who passed away last fall.

When Ex-Chief and volunteer EMT Evan Shegoski learned that not all NJ Department of Health licensed ambulances require AEDs to be carried on-board, he immediately got to work. With the help of Mr. Mitchell Zupko of Senator Troy Singleton's office, they worked together over the last eight months with the Department to ensure that our State is on track to adopt the commonsense policy of having AEDs on all licensed medical transportation vehicles. Today we mark the release of this memo below and look forward to the eventual promulgation of administrative code making this a permanent and required piece of equipment.

The River Road Rescue Squad remains committed to clinical excellence and ensuring that all patients have access to timely, accurate, reliable, and affordable care in their time of need.

Chief Choudhry and Deputy Chief Adhikarla are excited to implement the use of StatStrip Xpress 2 Glucometers and Albuterol Sulfate across our ambulance fleet. These additional capabilities have been granted to us through the NJDOH’s Expanded Scope of Practice waiver under the medical direction of RWJBH. We look forward to increasing the level of care we are able to provide to the communities we serve.

The turn out for our first ever free BBQ was less than we expected, but it was still great to meet residents and even two life members of the squad! We hope that in the future we get to meet more of you! If you ever want to learn more about the squad, or maybe you're a life member that wants to just chat with us, keep an eye on our parking lot and if you see members cars in the lot, ring our door bell and say hi! We love visitors!
