A stronger energy future for Native communities begins with investing in Native people.

This week, our Director of Programs, Michelle Hayden, and our Director of Operations, John Red Cloud, are in Bay Mills, Michigan, representing Red Cloud Renewable at the Great Lakes Tribal Energy Summit!

The summit brings together Tribal leaders, energy professionals, and partners to share knowledge, build connections, and explore ways to strengthen Tribal energy sovereignty.

John and Michelle presented about RCR’s Native workforce development programs and the role hands-on training plays in preparing Native people for careers in renewable energy. These programs help students build skills they can carry into meaningful work while contributing to the energy futures of their own communities.

For us, this work reaches beyond any one classroom or solar installation. It is about opening doors for individuals and families, growing local expertise, and supporting Tribal Nations in shaping their own futures.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our work, learn from others, and connect with people who share a commitment to a stronger future for Native communities.

One opportunity can change what a family believes is possible.

A chance to learn a skilled trade. To pursue steady work. To provide for loved ones. To let a child see their parent building something and think, “I could do that, too.”

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, help Red Cloud Renewable make those opportunities possible.

Through PRE-ARP, Indigenous students gain solar installation skills, safety training, and hands-on experience that help prepare them for work. Each cohort brings together 12 to 16 people with their own goals, families, and reasons for showing up.

Many come from reservation communities where access to career training and stable employment has been limited. They bring the determination. Together, we can help provide the opportunity.

Your gift can put something real into a student’s hands:

• $40 pays for CPR training and certification.
• $80 pays for OSHA 10 training and certification.
• $200 provides a student’s meals for one week on campus.
• $400 provides a complete tool bag to help them begin work as a solar installer.
• $1,000 pays for PV 101 online training.
• $2,500 sponsors one student’s entire learning journey through RCR.

We are working to break generational poverty, one cohort at a time. That work begins with people getting the chance to build a different future.

Interested in a career in solar? You don't need any experience to get started! Applications are open for Red Cloud Renewable’s BRIDGE training program! ☀️

The first step starts online, so now is the time to apply. Complete your online training over the coming months, then join us in person May 16–28, 2027 for hands-on solar training and an installation.

No solar experience is needed—just a willingness to learn and show up. BRIDGE also includes support with resumes, interviews, and connecting with employers.

Red Cloud Renewable in partnership with HVAC U, is excited to bring BPI Building Analyst Training & Certification to Pine Ridge, South Dakota, April 12–23, 2027.

This hands-on training is a great opportunity for individuals working in weatherization, housing, HVAC, energy efficiency, building performance, and related skilled trades.

Training includes:
BPI Building Science Principles (BSP)
BPI Building Analyst Technician (BA-T)
BPI Building Analyst Professional (BA-P)
Training materials and certification testing
Meals and lodging
Airport pickup and drop-off assistance for those flying in
