Santee Luke Witt, from Allen, South Dakota, is a poet, singer, and composer raised in the traditional Oglala singing ways. His musical background includes prayer songs, Native American Church music, and contemporary Native styles. In addition to his work as a performer, Santee is an accomplished artist and educator with years of experience teaching Lakota culture and traditions.
Jontay Peters, whose Lakota name is Koláyapí, is a member of the Wazí Aháŋháŋ Šiyótaŋka Okólakičiye. A graduate of Pine Ridge High School and current sophomore at Haskell Indian Nations University, Jontay has been playing the flute since the age of eight. He is also a proud member of the Lakota Flute Society, using music to honor culture, storytelling, and tradition.
The Wake Singers are a family-based band of cousins from Mni Luzahan (Rapid City), South Dakota, with roots in Red Shirt Table on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Made up of Reed, Douglas, and Micheal Two Bulls, the group writes, records, mixes, and produces their own music while blending storytelling, culture, and creativity into their work. Alongside music, each member is also a visual artist, using their collective, Pejuta Press, to create art rooted in family, community, and Indigenous expression.
