Camp Fish Tales is proud to present this year’s Ben Wackerle Keep the Fire Burning Award to Tom Sequin, whose dedication to Camp began before there was even a Camp.
Tom’s involvement started when Don Wackerle asked him to help find a way to accommodate the very first campers in the dorms at Delta College. That early act of service began decades of involvement that helped shape Camp Fish Tales into what it is today.
Tom’s construction expertise and leadership helped bring several Camp projects to life, including the chapel, main lodge, Camp Store, and bicycle pavilion. He also donated one of the original staff cabins and organized countless volunteers along the way.
Tom’s craftsmanship, generosity, leadership, and countless volunteer hours can still be seen throughout the Camp grounds. His contributions have helped create a welcoming and accessible place where generations of youth and adults with disabilities can experience the joy of Camp. “Tom embodies everything this award represents—decades of selfless service, unwavering support, and a genuine love for Camp Fish Tales and the families we serve,” said Executive Director, Shannon Forshee.
