Last evening the LPB #2 held an open meeting for the community to attend and share their ideas, and their support. I would love to say that the place was packed, but sadly, no one showed up. This is unfortunate, but the 6 board members that were in attendance, were glad to be there and hear what is in store for the Linwood Park community.
During the meeting, Kevin & Melissa Shark, who have taken control of the Linwood Little league (also LPB #2 members) shared information on the improvements to the concession stand and the upcoming schedule for the season, starting May 1st.
There are so many good things happening with the Little League and we hope that you all can get down to a game and support our local boys & girls.
The board is also working on one time events to hold as fundraisers for the park and will be posting more info as it is available.
On a personal note, I would like to thank Lora Nadolney, Doug Williams, Lawrence James Apsey, Kevin & Melissa Shark for their dedication to the kids, the park and the community. I am proud to be serving with them on the LPB #2

In response to the post about not having a festival this year, I just want to clear a few things up. We, the park board has campaigned to get more members and more volunteers to sign up to be on the board and to assist with planing and running of the festival. Many people offered, no one showed up- that’s the truth. I have been involved with the festival for 10+ years and have watched the community enjoy the festival and the events that are connected with the festival- the pageant, the golf outing, etc. and at the end of the weekend, those people thanked all of the park board member, who are volunteers and said “let me know what I can do to help next year and never came theough”. So the truth is, Covid took the festival down for a year and then it was lack of real interest in volunteering from the community that has affected the festival the last two years. Trust me when I say, I want the festival to happen as much as anyone, but 4 people who are still members of the park board can not do it by themselves.
I am sure I will get flack over this post but I am trying to be honest and transparent and would love to talk to anyone who would like to help bring back the festival for next year.

Thank you for all of your support!

This is so sad for Linwood. Prayers that this is not a total loss to our community.

Hi Linwood Pickle Festival Friends,

With a sad heart we are writing this post to let you know that there will NOT be a Linwood Pickle Festival this year for 2020. With so many things happening and changing we just feel that it is in the best interest of the community & volunteers to take the year off. We look forward to working towards a awesome 2021 Linwood Pickle Festival next year. Please reach out to us if you would be interested in being part of that or are interested in being a member on the Linwood Park Board 2 as we do have positions open. Stay safe & healthy.

Thank you,
Linwood Park Board 2

This is a long post, but it is worth the read.
Good evening Pickle Festival Peeps!
2020 has arrived and it is time to start planning for this year's annual festival. There are many changes happening right now that will affect the festival this year. As you know, the members of the Linwood Park Board #2 with a small group of volunteers, plan and puts the festival in motion every year. Recently, due to a relocation out of the area and also an upcoming wedding, 3 of our very valuable board members are stepping down and will not be able to give their time fully to the festival.
These absent positions will need to be filled soon so the planning phase can stay on track. Also, the festival will definitely have to enlist more volunteers to help plan, set up, organize, run and just be involved that whole weekend. Every year we have people who excitedly tell us that they would like to help, but unfortunately only a few show up. We are very grateful for all the volunteers over the years and would like more of the community to get involved in a festival that funds so many good things for the kids and residents of Linwood.
All this being said, we will be holding an open meeting at the end of this month for board position nominations and election. The open positions will be posted in the near future also.
To be honest, if the board positions are not filled and the amount of committed volunteers does not grow, the festival may not happen this year and we will have to consider future options for the festival.
If you would like more information about the responsibilities of becoming a board member, trustee or volunteer, please feel free to private message this page and myself or our president will reach out to you.
Thank you,
Trisha Umphrey, Linwood Park Board #2
