Linwood mourns the loss of our good friend, Dirk Waltz, who’s been a long time supporter of our community along with his family. For those of you who don’t know him personally, he was the Grand Marshall most recently for our 2026 Picklefest Parade. He was an active philanthropist with his support to move the Ice House Museum from South Linwood Beach to the Bicentennial Park, donating toward the Linwood Scenic Access Site park and many other contributions too numerous to mention. You probably have frequented the Animal Farm with the donkeys, goats, peacocks and other animals on South Linwood Beach that was created by his father and maintained all this time by Dirk and his family. Please join us in prayers for him and his family.

If you have any fond memories or photos to share, please comment below. I’m sure it would mean so much to his wife, Marti, and all the rest of his family. https://www.obitmichigan.com/Obituary/80659/Dirk%20Donald-Waltz

Good rainy Sunday morning Linwood! The rain seems to lighten up this afternoon and it might be the perfect time to go out to The Fields at Linwood to visit Linwood’s beautiful lavender farm and wildflowers. They’re open from 2-6 today and not only can you walk or get a personal guided golf cart ride (with cover) around their lovely gardens but you can purchase delicious smelling lavender bundles and products. They need the generous support from our community because everyone has been afraid to go past the construction road barriers. Well guess what? Go just beyond those northbound obstructions on Kaiser Tower Road and find a little piece of paradise. You’ll be so happy you did. If it’s rainy when you want to visit, go anyway! The rain makes the colors and smells more vibrant.

Large gathering of egrets on the beach tonight are very vocal. Not sure if they’re strategizing on their migration route or whether the forecasted rain is real. Right now it looks like it could be a very rainy 9 days in Linwood…but check your weather app again in 5 minutes and it could completely change.

When you get your ducks in row, you might want to stroll down to Linwood Beach to see if you can catch a view of the 5 swans in a row. 🦢 🦢 🦢 🦢 🦢 They’re hanging out just off the point of the public park and the end of Linwood Road by the bay.

A pink moon is emerging tonight from the depths of Saginaw Bay off the shores of Linwood. Hard to imagine we could top the images from the last two nights but this one is quite spectacular. And keeps getting more interesting.

Did you know that today is giving Tuesday? All we’re asking for is GIVING YOUR TIME.

Volunteers Needed Sept. 26 from 9-10:30 a.m. Doug Williams, owner of the Linwood Party and Sporting Goods store, is coordinating on behalf of the Linwood Civic Improvement Club a roadside cleanup effort. We are looking for 10 good citizens to help with pick up along M-13 from Cottage Grove to Anderson Road.

Please let us know if you're willing to help beautify the highway that leads to our quaint village. Your time is greatly appreciated. Volunteers will meet up at the corner Judy’s Pies building. Please contact Doug if you’re willing to help 989-295-3067

It doesn’t get any better than this in Linwood. Happy Tuesday friends🥰
