Gateway Destination Arenac is a Placemaking Group Spear Headed by the Standish Area Chamber of Commerce as a subcommittee under with the the Arenac Heritage Route Authority and Friends of the Arenac Heritage Route Authority. Joined also are business owners, engaged citizens, city council members, chamber members, EDC members and more! So what is placemaking? Good question: Placemaking is a multi-f

aceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. Placemaking capitalizes on a local community's assets, inspiration, and potential, with the intention of creating public spaces that promote people's health, happiness, and well being. So stay tuned in and up to date on all that will be happening in Arenac County! If you want to get involved, let us know!

We’re excited to announce that Standish Strong on August 15th will include a STRONGMAN CONTEST- organized by Chris Parker.

That’s right — we’re calling all strong men, strong women, farm-strong folks, gym warriors, “I carried all the groceries in one trip” legends, and anyone who thinks they’ve got what it takes. 👀
