With the holiday it was a short but wonderful week. We celebrated our 11 year anniversary of serving free meals to our community. This week we served a total of 515 meals and gave out 65 bags of emergency food. Delores and Jill gave 9 free haircuts. Thank you Food City on Cassidy Blvd for donating a beautiful cake for our anniversary. It was wonderful to have Walmart Pikeville leadership visit to see what we do. We are very appreciative of their support and monetary donation. We had volunteers from Peoples Bank come and help serve. Thank you ladies. We are grateful for Denny Rohrer and his commitment to bring bread each week. We are absolutely being blessed so that we can pass those blessings on to the people in our community.

A super busy blessed week. The University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine students are officially done for the semester but surprised us with a wonderful donation. They had a secret (from me) fundraiser during Hillbilly Days and sold water and Gatorade. They made $921 and donated it to the Kitchen. Such a kind and generous thing to do! We served 1000 meals this week and gave out 147 bags of emergency food. Thank you Denny Rohrer for coming through on the buns. We used more than 500 of them on Thursday.

We will be closed Monday for Memorial Day. On Thursday we will celebrate our 11 year anniversary and Delores and Jill will be giving free haircuts.

We are very grateful for our hardworking volunteers and our community partners. It couldn’t be done without them!

Last official week of University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine students volunteering until the new semester starts. They have been a huge help with prep work. We served 900 meals this week and gave out 103 bags of emergency food. Thank you Food City shoppers on Cassidy Blvd. for your donations to the Blessing Buggy. Thank you Denny Rohrer for bringing us bread. It’s been a good week serving our community. We appreciate Roger and Tony playing and singing. Thank you Lord for blessing us to be able to help our people.
