The word “retard” is offensive. There is no appropriate time to use it

Why? The “R” word is historically known and used to demean people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Words matter. The language we choose shapes how we see and treat people.

Please EVERYONE take a few minutes and send this message to your legislators!! By putting in your address it will pull them up and just hit submit. No need to make a donation. Thank you!! This is a real crisis in our community!!

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) workforce is facing a serious crisis. Each year, about 41% of DSPs leave their jobs, most often because they are severely underpaid for the critical work they do, making it harder for people with disabilities to find and keep the consistent support they need.

DSPs help people with disabilities with things many of us take for granted—everyday tasks like getting dressed, taking medication, preparing meals, and so much more. We are asking Congress to take a big first step in solving this crisis by passing the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act.

Send a message to congress and tell them what DSPs mean to you: https://bit.ly/4hTRVM1

We are down to just 2 VENDOR spots left for the Picayune Glow Run September 19.

We are officially FULL for food, snack and drink vendors, but if you own a business and want to get your name in front of a big local crowd, and support The Arc of Pearl River County these last two spots are for you. Our goal is to give back to the community.

Set up a table, promote your business, hand out freebies, meet people in the community and let everyone know what you do.

We are still on track for 500 participants coming out to run.Thatd not including vendors or volunteers 🤯

Vendor spaces are a $125 donation to The Arc of Pearl River County, and you’ll receive a donation letter for your tax records.

Only TWO spots remain. Once they’re gone, vendor registration is closed.

Reach out to us asap.
