SPIRITUAL CURRENT

Co***ne Anonymous should remain forever nonprofessional,
but our service centers may employ special workers.
C.A. Tradition Eight

One addict sharing experience, strength, and hope with another is a sacred and spiritual event. It is the beginning of recovery. When these sacred events are linked together in fellowship, a spiritual current is established. This spiritual
current is the binding element in our brotherly and harmonious connection. Clearly, the one-on-one meeting of addict-to-addict should never be professionalized. But what about the work which paves the way for these sacred events? What about the publication and distribution of literature, the processing of mail and other assorted mundane tasks? Successfully coordinating communication
throughout a worldwide Fellowship involves many aspects and reliable, accountable efforts are necessary. Here we find that paid employees have proven to be a necessary, effective, and efficient tool in furthering our primary purpose of carrying the message to the addict who still suffers.
I am grateful for a loving God directing our efforts. I am grateful for the spiritual current which binds us. I am grateful for all the people doing God’s will, whether it is a paid employee shipping literature out of a warehouse, or a Fellowship member sharing experience, strength, and hope with a still-suffering addict on the sidewalk.
