We’re excited to share some wonderful news!

A huge thank you to St. Mary’s Food Bank for awarding House of Refuge Sunnyslope a $10,000 grant! This generous gift will help us upgrade our kitchen, allowing us to better serve the individuals and families who call House of Refuge Sunnyslope home.

We are incredibly grateful for community partners like St. Mary’s Food Bank whose generosity helps us continue our mission of providing hope, support, and a safe place for those in need.

Sometimes change begins with a simple decision: I want something different. ❤️

When Everth came to House of Refuge Sunnyslope, he was facing an uncertain season without a place to call home. The road forward wasn’t easy, but he kept showing up, kept working, and kept choosing to move forward.

Along the way, Everth found more than a safe place to stay—he found support, stability, community, and an opportunity to grow in his faith.

Today, Everth has moved out of our housing program, is working three jobs, and is continuing to build a new future for himself.

His story is a beautiful reminder of what can happen when perseverance meets opportunity, community, and faith.

We are grateful for community partners who invest in the lives of the moms and children we serve.

Recently, representatives from Scholars Academy Sunnyslope joined our women's programming to share educational opportunities and valuable information with our moms. Their willingness to connect, answer questions, and provide resources is a wonderful example of how community partnerships can help strengthen families and create brighter futures.

At House of Refuge Sunnyslope, we know transformation happens when organizations come together with a shared desire to support and encourage those seeking stability and growth. We are thankful for partners like Scholars Academy Sunnyslope who are committed to investing in both children and parents through education and community engagement.

Thank you for spending time with our residents and for being part of the work God is doing in our community.

🛋️ GOT COUCH?

We are currently in need of gently used couches for our apartments, and it’s actually a GREAT problem to have! 💛

When one of our moms successfully graduates from our program, she gets to take everything from her apartment with her as she begins her next chapter. Furniture, décor, kitchen essentials, bathroom items… basically everything but the stove and refrigerator! 🏡✨

That means when moms graduate, we get the joy of preparing those apartments all over again for the next mom who needs a safe place to call home.

"I'm very grateful."

Those are the words Mario uses to describe his life today.

His journey has included incarceration, addiction, homelessness, and more than one fresh start. But through it all, Mario kept moving forward, trusting God and working to rebuild his life.

Today, Mario has graduated from House of Refuge Sunnyslope, is living in his own apartment, working, serving others, and building a life filled with hope and purpose.

Mario's story is a beautiful reminder that restoration is possible. ❤️
