GRIC Urban Members Association Inc. The greatest concern was that urban members were not given the right to vote in community district meetings.

The formation of the Gila River Indian Community Urban Members Association (GRIC-UMA) was initiated in June of 1997 through four District 7 GRIC urban tribal members: Dorcie Poncho, Roella Fragua, Bernice Nelson and Renee Barehand. These members were concerned that some tribal members living off the Reservation were being denied benefits, opportunities and services afforded to those living on the

reservation. Decisions were being made without the input of those landowners who lived off the Reservation. Members who lived off the reservation were found ineligible for program assistance and services because they did not reside in that district. In September of 1997 a poll was conducted to contact and identify GRIC tribal members living off the reservation. Opinion and concerns were obtained on the issues of tribal rights. Over one hundred signatures were obtained and all felt their rights were not being recognized or considered.

The Gila River Indian Community Urban Members Association is excited to offer FREE Arizona Diamondbacks tickets for Native American Recognition Day!

✅ Must be a Gila River Urban Member (Tribal ID)
✅ Maximum of 3 tickets per member request
✅ Tickets must be picked up by Wednesday at 6:00 PM
✅ Any tickets not picked up by the deadline will be given to the next person on the request list

🚗 Parking is NOT included.

Applications for rental, utility, and food card assistance are accepted at 10 AM in person or via email starting 5/11/26 - 5/15/26

NOTE: We have a new application. Please stop by the office to pick up a new copy or we can email it to you.

For new applicants, please include the following:
• GRIC Tribal ID
• W-9
• Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Form.
• Current bill (must be in your name)
• Current lease (name must be on the lease if requesting rental assistance).
