Mayor Kate Gallego joined our meeting this morning to discuss Phoenix’s responsible contractor ordinance and how it helps Phoenix deliver projects on time and on budget, especially as she continues to bring new industries to Phoenix. We were also able to meet with Dr. Rockee Armstrong about what she would like to see the legislature pass once a pro-union majority is elected into office this November. Lastly, we were honored to swear-in two new delegates from IBEW Local 640 Brother Oliver Emms and Brother Mark Elliott.

Congresswoman Grijalva met with the Arizona Building Trades this morning to hear about the issues that are important to our members and discuss how we can work together to attract good-paying union jobs to southern Arizona

AZBTC members were happy to help Senator Kelly kickoff his new initiative that will create jobs and opportunities for young men throughout the United States. AZBTC has a proven track record of helping our members reach their full potential and we look forward to partnering with the senator to continue making a difference in our community one individual at a time

During our monthly meeting we sworn-in Brother Ryan Zerzanek from Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 as our newest delegate and met with DOL Wage and Hour to discuss some of the issues our members are seeing on the jobsite

As we prepare for construction to begin at Resolution Copper AZBTC members toured the mine to learn more about the upcoming project. Once construction begins, we are excited to see the positive impact good-paying union jobs will have on the surrounding area

As we kickoff National Trench Safety Week AZBTC wants to remind everyone that works in or near a trench to stay up-to-date on their trench safety training, so we can make sure our job sites remain safe and free of hazards
