During a vote on HCR 2040, Arizona State Senator Farnsworth (R) said he graduated “before the corrupt liberal unions destroyed our system.”
HCR 2040 is aimed at educators and their unions—but it goes after how unions survive in the workplace.
It would prohibit the use of school facilities, email systems, and other public resources for union activity, eliminate payroll deduction for union dues, and override existing agreements workers rely on.
Supporters frame this as saving taxpayer money—but the fiscal analysis shows no impact to the state budget and only minimal local administrative savings. School districts already process payroll deductions for benefits like retirement and insurance, so union dues aren’t some added burden—they run through the same system.
In practice, this bill targets the basic infrastructure unions rely on—cutting off access to workplace communication, meeting space, and dues collection. That makes it harder for educators to organize, maintain membership, and advocate for themselves on the job.
And while it’s focused on schools today, it raises serious concerns about setting a precedent for applying these same restrictions to other public sector workers in the future.
This isn’t about policy. It’s about working people.

This is about power — and not the abstract kind.

The Arizona Corporation Commission controls decisions that directly impact:

Your utility bills

Broadband buildout

Energy policy

Corporate accountability

And the future of good union jobs in Arizona

The Commission is supposed to protect the public from corporate abuse.

Instead, the current majority too often protects corporations from accountability.

When regulators side with corporate executives instead of working families, we all feel it — through higher rates, weaker oversight, and decisions that don’t prioritize workers.

That has to change.

CWA is supporting Clara Pratte and Jonathon Hill for the Arizona Corporation Commission because we need commissioners who understand that their job is to serve the public — not defend corporations.

They are in the final stretch to qualify for the ballot and need a few more signatures to ensure voters have a real pro-worker choice.

CWA Arizona Stands with a YES Vote on Props 409 & 410!

The Communications Workers of America Arizona State Council endorses YES on Proposition 409 in Maricopa County and YES on Proposition 410 in Chandler.

✅ Prop 409 — Strengthening Community Health
Prop 409 will modernize and expand Valleywise Health, our county’s public hospital system, so working families have access to quality emergency and behavioral health care when they need it most. The cost to homeowners is modest—about $22 a year for the average household—an affordable investment in lifesaving care and training for future healthcare workers.

✅ Prop 410 — Strengthening Local Accountability
A “YES” vote on Prop 410 updates Chandler’s city charter to limit the mayor and city council to two consecutive four-year terms each (a total of 16 years of consecutive service). This ensures fair rotation, fresh leadership, and accountability in city government.

Both measures reflect CWA’s core values: investing in people, promoting transparency, and building stronger, healthier communities for all Arizonans.

😡 We’ve all been there — stuck on hold forever, then connected to someone overseas who can’t fix the problem, or worse, an unhelpful AI. It’s beyond frustrating.

The Keep Call Centers in America Act (S.2495 / H.R. 4954) is a bipartisan bill to protect consumers and American jobs. It would ensure that when you call for help:
✔ You have the right to speak with someone in the U.S.
✔ You’re not trapped in a loop of bots or overseas agents who don’t understand your issue
✔ Companies that off-shore service jobs won’t be rewarded with U.S. taxpayer dollars
