Being on Good Morning America still feels like a dream come true. Moments like this remind me that anything is possible, which is why I talk so much about consistency. Even when it feels like nobody is watching, just know that people are especially the ones that truly matter. Keep showing up for others no matter what and never forget that you’re just as important as the next person. Treat everyone the way you would want to be treated. Never in a million years did I think that little ol’ me… Josh from North Philadelphia a kid who grew up rough, in and out of the system from 12 to 24 would one day be sitting on the couch of Good Morning America. 🥹 There were days I didn’t even know what my future would look like. Days when I felt counted out. Days when I could’ve easily become another statistic. But God had different plans. Ten years ago, I picked up my clippers with a purpose. EmpoweringCuts was never just about haircuts. It was about pouring love into people when the world had poured pain into them. I didn’t start this for cameras. I didn’t do it for applause. I did it because I know what it feels like to struggle… So sitting on that couch wasn’t just a moment for me. It was for every kid from North Philly who feels overlooked. Every person battling addiction. Every father trying to rewrite his story. Every human being who just needs one person to believe in them. This is such a huge milestone for me and for the communities I serve. If my story proves anything, it’s this: Your past does not disqualify you from your purpose. Where you start does not determine where you can sit. And trust me… this is only the beginning.
